Was The Booth sold out for the game?

Yes, it was. Offical attendance was over 20,000.
And the HOYAS were the loudest.

A few comments, though most things have been discussed already.
1. The students were very, very loud. A few of the nasty chants were quickly silenced. Way to keep it classy, Hoya fans.
2. Even better than the students - all of whom should be insane and thus are held to a much higher standard- were the Young Alums. I wanted to be in their section - standing with more than ten minutes left. And loud.
3. What's with the bird costumes? There were two of them. As was said in our section, you can't really complain if you're not nominated for Fan of the Game if your competition was two people in bird costumes and a dancing baby.
4. One of the things that stunned me about the Villanova game - the student they picked for a shooting contest nailed a free throw, a three, and almost hit a half-court shot. How come two G'town students, both of whom look to be in good physical shape, can only make one free throw in a minute? Does GU need to reinstate a PE requirement.
5. From what I heard about the halftime debacle, Inova should ensure that this guy stays away from public appearances from now on. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get people mad enough to boo you when you're talking about organ donation?
6. Aaron Gray looks frighteningly like Mark Cuban. Really, if the Mavericks draft him, the fun will just be beginning - if (and it's a big one - great cheer sheet comment of "NBA(Europe) All-Star" ) AG turns into a competent player and then suddenly looks three or four steps slower for a game or two, you know what happened.
7. Our cheerleaders are getting some more intricate stunts. Glad to see it.
8. Two good Rival Reels - the dancing one in the middle didn't really have much of a point. The first one went on too long, but the joke at the end was worth it.
9. The difference between last semester and last year and this year is amazing. Last year, almost every single close game was a Maalox moment. When Pitt seemed like they were going to blow the game open, I felt strangely calm, as if it was logical to expect Georgetown to storm back.
10. Upon waiting for a table at an IHOP in Alexandria for breakfast this morning, a party of about six left. I said "Go Hoyas!" after seeing that one of them had on a Georgetown cap. She mentioned that everyone else with her were Pitt fans.
She was the cutest one.
Obviously.
11. While walking out, one of the Pitt fans chanted "Old Dominion".
Whatever, dude. ODU's pretty good now. But even more importantly, it was light years ago for this team.
12. A group of us ate at a Chinese restaurant afterwards. When the bill came, it included fortune cookies ("Time is Money" was mine, which was the same one as another member of the group) and oranges. One of the members of our party started to eat the orange and I had a remarkably visceral reaction - she had to reassure me that she was crushing it, and her association with an orange was therefore OK.
13. I'm posting so late because I went to a Smithsonian event which was designed around an exhibit on the French and Indian War. It's probably the history dork in me that found the history of Fort Pitt and Pittsburgh and everything to be a perfect capstone to the day.
Actually, scratch the "probably".
14. Is the fear back yet?

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Bob Smizik: Pitt's season slip, slidin' away
...predictably, no credit given to the Hoyas, only:
Is he the same guy that called for the BE to dump GU and a few others because we could no longer compete? Something like that? I am pretty sure it was a guy from Pittsburgh and I think it was this guy. Anyone recall?

NY TImes story: The Hoyas’ last loss was Jan. 13 at Pittsburgh, where the teams shot a combined 60.2 percent from the field and committed a total of only 17 turnovers. If that was a work of art, Saturday’s game was more like finger painting; the teams combined to shoot 38.5 percent and committed 27 total turnovers.www.nytimes.com/2007/02/25/sports/ncaabasketball/25hoyas.html?ref=sports

On the Jeff steal / falling out of bounds pass to Sapp / Sapp layin, did anyone else notice PEJR give a bump to the trailing Pitt player, ensuring Jesse had a clear path to the hoop? Nothing violent, just a stiff shoulder to keep the guy from catching up to The Emergent One.
Good lord, I love Ewing Jr. more and more every game...

My favorite quote: "I wanted him to play," Hibbert said. "When he walked out on the court he told me, 'I missed you big Roy.' I told him, 'I missed you, too.' It was a good battle and I can't wait to play him again." (from the ESPN recap)
I love Roy's fire - - his yell at the end of the game was just awesome.

If I remember, he wrote the article and it came out the first day of the BEAST season in 2005, JT III's first game in the conference. The Hoyas won that game AT pitt, and are now 3-2 against pitt since that time---thanks dude...See you guys on the way down...Maybe potatoe head can help you guys out by writing how basketball schools should kick out the big, indeffective schools like the pitts.

I didn't realize until I looked at the box score just how much their guards were shut down from getting easy baskets.
Check out the 2-pt shooting:
Fields: 1-1 (the drive to tie the game late)
Graves: 0-2
Benjamin: 0-3
Ramon: 0-0 (that's right, ZERO)
So their guards went 1-6 from two-point range and jacked 19 threes! Great defense/hustling back/intimidation by Roy to keep these guys out of the lane for easy twos.
In contrast, Wallace and Sapp went 5-6 from two.

Meh, Fittipaldo's article a couple of years ago in the Post-Gazette was obnoxious for sure, but i didnt have any problem with his story on yesterday's game. It reads exactly like a Camille or Barker article. The article in the local paper is always going to be "home team makes mistakes" rather than "away team caused home team to make mistakes." That is just the way those things go.

The earlier article by Smizik, basically the argument that the big east should dump the non-football schools, with the added barb that their best days are behind them. www.pittsburghpostgazette.net/pg/05005/437358.stmSmizik: Big East needs to downsize

This was the AP photo used in our newspaper to go with the story for the game.....a great photo indeed and I would guess it was seen all around the country if they used here. Now I want to see a similar one when I get my paper on Tuesday morning!!!!
