Amazing that no one has brought up the great moment in gambling history that took place at the end of the game. If you had the Hoyas -16, you probably felt pretty good up 21 with just about a minute left, then felt your stomach drop when you saw a lineup that featured Tay Spann at the point and PE Jr. at the 2 while Ronny kept the press on, allowing Ball St. to score the final 6 points and get the miraculous cover. Of course, if you had any brain in your head, you wagered against the Hoyas, because there was no chance JTIII was going to run up the score on baby bro.

great game, we dominated, offense ran very smoothly, shut-down defense, broke the press, destroyed the zone, etc, etc
but i'm back home and watching a recording of the game from MASN and i am simply blown away at how horrible of a color commentator mark tillmon is
i understand he's an all-time great hoya and meant a lot to the prgoram, but, to put it kindly, the man is not a gifted broadcaster ... reminds me of watching one of those high school football games replayed on saturday afternoon on a public access channel

24 posts and nobody has commented on the 8 assist ZERO turnover night by Sapp? That's 17 assists versus 4 turnovers on the year for Jessie now. What's a guard got to do to get some attention for his control of the offense? Be a walk-on who everyone doubts can play point? Nce job, Jesse!

JTIII basically used an eight-man rotation tonight (without the services of Tyler). Great confidence builder for freshmen...
Another plus-40% night for FG D... not looking good!

good win. we played very well offensively, other than too many turnovers IMO. very good assist numbers, a good indicator the offense is working. vernon and dejuan played very well offensively, but they only had one combined rebound in 41 minutes. we need them to hit the boards and play defense as much as we need their scoring. i share the concerns about the defense and rebounding. those numbers have to be better soon.
lets finish the week strong and beat oregon and the pukies. it will be a good measuring stick as to where this team might be in a few months. go hoyas.

It seems that Spann has no shot at the rotation and I was surprised they didn't put him in with more then a minute to play. Give the kid a little run. We didn't quite close out as quickly as we should have and they were clearly undermanned. Mack did well against a really big post player which was good to see pre-big east. Jeff needs to be stronger with the ball. You can tell that all of our "new" guys, Ewing included, still don't really grasp the offense. I hope by the end of the Navy game (and run of 4 out of 5 easy games), they are getting it.

Did you notice that Ronny tried to deny the ball to JW and that caught us off guard (summers turnover)? If he would have done that and employed the zone early on, I don't think we get off to a 16-4 lead. That is a blueprint for what well coached teams should do against us if you were asking me. Roy's got to dunk that first lay-up too.

I think it makes him sound like a Haitian dictator. If we had had Baby Doc a few years ago, Sam Dalembert probably wouldn't have scored all those points

From the Muncie Paper:
"Hibbert had a game-high seven rebounds, and Green had a game-best 14 points and six boards. They also each were credited with two blocked shots, but the Hoyas' stat crew appeared to miss some. Hibbert and Green both had a block in the first half and at least two in the second half."
I commented on this last year. I think Hibbert was shortchanged at least 20 blocks by our home scorers last year and it looks to be true again. Can't they keep up? I remember one televised game where the announcing crew had Hibbert at 6 but the official box had him at 2 hours later.

Don't you worry--my girlfriend has definately noticed. She has stated multiple times that she will leave me for jessie due to his "intangibles", "leadership" and his "sweet passing". My wife, too, has moved off the Jon Wallace bandwagon and onto the Jesse Sapp bandwage because he's "cuter." I thought we looked great last night, particularly because Egerson, Sapp, Wallace, and Summers all stepped up and hit mid-range jumpers. If we do that consistently, we can beat anybody. If we had a deadly shooter, we'd unstoppable. I was shocked that RT went with the press so much. I know that's his bread and butter, but even BSU's mediocre zone gave us more problems than their obviously more practiced press.

Another plus-40% night for FG D... not looking good! i think our defense actually played very well, but i thought that ball state was really up for the task .... they nailed 3s, made hard shots in the lane, moved without the ball, had a lot of hustle to them, and generally just played very good offensive basketball ... in light of all that, the final score is really a testament to how well our defense played .... if we would have had an off-night offensively or defensively this would have been a very tough game, because ball state really did bring it

It seemed like every shot they took in the last 5 seconds of the shot clock went in.

Every single shot made represented what could have been a win in 2001-02 (or, if you prefer, one of the chances for victory in the ND game alone!).

Not sure how people figure "great game" from Jeff when he only took 6 shots, fortunately making 5 and both of his from beyond the arc.
Yes, I like the efficiency, no, I do not like him only taking 6 shots. He should average a dozen.

Did anyone else notice how Editeded JTIII was during the game, he was screaming and yelling and arguing every call. I think Popps was right about having his sons play against each other, hope that he'll be his old calm self again for Oregon.
