Fairfield on the night before Thanksgiving. That should make for a fun commute to Bridgeport from NYC.

Practically all noon starts on Saturday home games. Bummer.
RPIs last year: Ball St. 254, Hartford 270. Ugh.

During the Esherick period, I always complained about the schedule. I believe the out of conference schedule has two purposes- 1)to prepare a team for the conference schedule and 2) to push a team that may be on the bubble into the postseason. When Esherick scheduled cupcakes, allowing us to go 10-0 on multiple occasions, neither 1) nor 2) was accomplished. When Thompson took the reigns 2 years ago he was asked about scheduling on the John Thompson show and he said his philosophy was to schedule based on the needs of his teams in any given year. This year, we are a preseason top 10 team. Therefore, we really don't need number 2) as much as we did in the Esherick era (when a good OOC schedule might have pushed us into the postseason in 2003). I think some posters are making too much of the RPI. It's been proven that if we go above .500 in the Big East and take care of this conference schedule, we'll be in the tourney. The question becomes whether or not this schedule will adequately prepare us for the conference schedule and in my opinion it does. Games at Duke, Michigan and Vanderbilt should be plenty to get this team going. Plus, a home game vs. ODU at McDonough? That is going to be sick. I just hope that as an alum I will be able to get a ticket to that! JTIII is a smart man- we need to use the hype we're generating to our advantage and ride into conference play with just enough tests to keep the team in shape and motivated.

I wonder if there's anything planned around ODU at McDonough--there's nothing scheduled at the Verizon Center that day; it isn't during finals; it looks like it was a deliberate decision to be on campus.
By the way, practice can start Friday Oct. 13.

ODU is at McDonough? Sweeeeeeet. That place is going to be crazy against a real opponent (not a 300 rpi one). And a battle of the Thompson boys! I'm pretty pumped now! ODU is dead.

Hartford? Ball state? at least ball state makes sense cause of ronnie. Uggh not exactly what i was hopping from the last two free games. Two games at McD is pretty cool. 17 Home games well 14 for some. I'll be at all of them. one of the advantages of being local!

OK, so there is a problem for the Nova game on the 8th. Currently, housing is planning to open the dorms at 12 noon on the 9th. That stinks. I suggest a massive, coordinated lobbying effort to get the dorms opened now later than 3pm on the 8th. Game isn't till 8pm, so 3pm should be early enough. Who to contact: Academic Housing Email: campushousing@georgetown.edu Go hoyas! This may seem stupid, but this is one of the best posts we've had on this board in a long while. This board should be about action, and this kind of thing is important. Edited. In the past, use of phone numbers on the board has caused problems at GU, so if you are a student and want to contact someone, look it up through the University directory. --Admin

I think it may need to go a bit higher than the housing office though. In the meantime feel free to contact the number hoyadrummer provided.

Ummmm...I'll throw it out there that I'll be around for both the ND/Nova games and the UConn game, so if certain people are really trying to stay and need a place, I can prob. hook them up. I'm gonna talk to the dorm captains in Hoya Blue South and see what they can do--if you're scoring at home, JerseyHoya lives in the Crystal City equivalent of Darnall, I'm in Harbin, and StPete/Nyr320 live in Village C.
The as-yet-undecided food venue in Darnall = Crystal City Restaurant.

Practically all noon starts on Saturday home games. Bummer. RPIs last year: Ball St. 254, Hartford 270. Ugh. Ball State is rarely that low so that 254 is unlikely to happen again. They're almost always in the mid-100s. I think we avoided a true disaster given the constraints. Obviously we'd all like to see Alabama, Florida, or OSU (including JTIII), but this is what we have to work with. But here are the good parts of the schedule. 1. It builds nicely to Duke. Two road games and two major conference opponents make for a very good run up to the biggest OOC game. 2. No "killer stretch." Many times in the past we've seen a schedule with the disclaimer "If we get out of those games, we're fine." Not so this year. An argument could be made for Pitt, @syracuse, and UConn to end the year but two of those are at home. 3. McDonough gets a real game. After a destruction of Harftford and a convincing win over Vandy, the first real home game will be a chance to give a mid-major a taste of their own medecine. 4. If you can't schedule a game, schedule an event. The Thompson v Thompson match-up is a great game regardless of the teams. This year is nostalgia-rama and this game will feed that hype. In lieu of a major game, this ain't bad. The only question now is: Will we get sick of seeing Louisville storming the court after knocking off #1 Georgetown at Freedom Hall? Or will we be too happy to care?

Ya i was really upset to see the Big East schedule and find out that ND and Nova are over Christmas break (and UConn over Spring Break, but students are allowed on campus so its not so big a deal). I realize the Athletic Department doesnt have much control over the schedule, so what Editedes me off is the housing situation. I live in an apartment, so I dont see why i shouldn't be allowed to stay in my room a few days early. I didnt pay $90 bucks for season tixs (not to mention tuitiion and room and board), so that I get shutout of two of the biggest home conference games. Its bad enough that our home OOC schedule suxs, now I'm going to miss crucial conference games. Hopefully something can be done about tis situation, cuz the whole deal with freshmen getting all the season tixs already angered alot of ppl. Just wait till more ppl find out about this.

I have good info that the person to contact about this situation is Todd Olson, VP of student affairs. His email is tao4@georgetown.edu and he should hear about how you and everyone else who has a strong opinion on this matter feels.

If you live in an apartment, how are they going to keep you out? It's not like they change the locks.
