Credit where credit is due. Outside of that last shot, which went in so all good, Epps play on offense has been close to perfect. When he's hot I don't mind him letting it fly. His D needs a lot of help but this is a very good development.

These guys are tiny and just lost by 50. Looks like another long season for the Hoyas, I'm depressed.

How do you play a zone and leave a guy standing all alone right in front of the basket?

That couldve been really bad for Sorber. Glad everything is OK.

Aight let’s keep this rolling until the end of the game and we’ll hit the spread. They’ve hit a wall and our bigs won’t quit.

Wait and see mode. Lots of meh. Doesn’t feel like a very deep team offensively.

Last five minutes nice. Before that yuck.
At least our season’s hope will go past the first game. Can it go past two for the first time in four years?

Mack really was disappointing in the first half with poor shooting, trying to do way too much and not passing, and poor defense. Epps looks like he improved a little, but not a point guard.
Sorber is looking good, but still young. Julius has been a nice surprise and pairs well with Sorber (still young and needs to work of footwork and defense), butI'm surprised how well he moves.
Peavy has been what was expected which is really good.and Burks is decent shooting and has decent defense.
Fielder seems to be a bit off. He has been out at the wing and out of play motion with neither small guard passing much.

Wasn’t the prettiest by any means but it’s a win. Defense left a lot to be desired. Sorber is going to be a hell of a player if he hangs around a few years, liked what I saw from Epps and Peavy as well. Team seems to be deeper than years past but going to take time to figure out roles. Go Hoyas!

Starting off with a W is better then a L every time. Got the first game jitters out of the way against a team that was hungry to bounce back in their second game. I am no longer worried about our front court depth. We have 3 good centers that coach can rotate through. The 4 is a bit thinner as Sorber and Fielder figure out how to play with another bit. Epps was quiet but consistent; I have a feeling coach asked him to defer until we need him. Save your legs for BE play. Mack was solid and I’m sure we will see bigger games. Peavy is the engine that will make the team run, great pickup. I’m sure we will get bigger games from Williams and Burks but happy to have them.
Clean up the defense, sharpen up the offense, and we are going places.
Go Hoyas!!!

Mack’s ball handling and Sorber’s FTs were key down the stretch.
Not the no doubter I was hoping for, but Xavier, PC, SHU, and Butler had similar outings. Not to mention the Nova debacle.

Go Hoyas! Defensive issues looked a lot like communication most of the time, so I hope that can be cleaned up fairly quickly. Sorber looks like the real deal -- nothing spectacular, just steady, steady, steady, with good offensive fundamentals. Peavy played great and was the victim of at least 2 terrible calls after really nice defensive plays. Mack looked like he was trying too hard early, but once he settled in, was a very good look at PG. Epps -- under control and solid shooting. Julius looked very good in a short stint, which is understandable coming off an injury. Looks like an athlete out there, especially at his size. Fielder was hustling all over, but seemed to be out of the flow a lot, or not finding his positions comfortably. Would love to see a bigger win and more playing time for the guys who were on the bench today. I think this team has decent depth, but they need to be tested to be ready for when the team will really need them. Overall, an ok start and a very satisfying couple of days in DC.

Positives.
Epps was way more efficient on offense and started to take over more during "winning time"
Obvious that lots of talented pieces to work with. Now have to find the right fits.
Sorber and Julius looked the part.
Peavy is better than advertised offensively.
Burks athleticism and size combination is tantalizing.
Negatives
Mack had a realtively poor game overall (although better PG offensive play in 2nd half). Worried his size will be a major issue defensive against bigger high major guards.
Fielder is potentially going to struggle to find a role. Even when he played in 2nd half they played Sorber at the 4 spot. Once Julius is fully conditioned and the more Sorber gets comfortable at the 4, along with Burks' playing I could see his minutes drying up quick. Hopefully when we play high major teams with more size he can find his sea legs.
Defense was poor. Too many easy buckets at rim. Showed some flashes on possessions and the rim protection will be better but need improvement on that end quick.
