If anybody still thinks Cook should be getting significant minutes next year after watching this - then they're related 5 to 8 minutes off the bench max. So disappointing.

Like clockwork, we are falling apart down the stretch. Zero on court leadership. None

You're not gonna surprise a Pitino coached team with a full court press.

We can’t buy a stop right now. I was just thinking the same thing. The defense just has to improve to win meaningful games. You can’t win consistently when the other team shoots 55-65% every game.

Like clockwork, we are falling apart down the stretch. The two quick fouls on Fielder (the first was incredibly soft) changed the complexion of the game.

St Johns has done a good job of pounding Epps in the second half. I love Cook, but his lack of hops really hampers him inside in traffic on offense.

Soriano must be the next coming of Mutumbo whit all of his "clean" blocks. And gets away with a push to Cook…

Fixated on point gaurd as that role drives the offense. The point needs to look and see the flow on the floor and take advantage of what is given or create for others. Terrell Allen was the last pure point the Hoyas had. Cooley calls this out a lot. There are three important roles on a team and they need to be in sync: coach, point guard, and scorer. Missing a solid point. Epps can score, but doesn't see the floor well nor create for teammates, Rowan is much much closer to that role, but not not adjusted fully to D1 yet. I get the "duties" of a PG but I disagree that Epps missed a pass because he's not a PG. He missed the pass because he's a ball dominant player. Claude from X isn't a PG but he made the right pass to Swain to beat Gtown in their 1st meeting. The same goes for players like Karaban from Uconn or Alexander from Creighton Epps doesn't look for open teammates. He will take on two or three defenders for a contested miss with wide open players. He gets out numbered and doesn't know where the extra defenders came from so to make them pay. That is horrible basketball, particularly for a point. Most good coaches equate that with a turnover as it is no points and the ball going the other direction. From late high school onward it takes a couple years to get that mindset turned around. Epps is a good scorer, but looses 10 team points or more by this lack of finding teammates. He has to play with his head up and know where mismatches are and where he can create for others. Occasionally Epps will hit a wide open player, most often he is looking at the defender trying to figure out how to break them down. When Epps does this open players get covered. This is the last thing you want at point. Epps is a scorer and needs to be free to do that, but having him at point hurts the Hoyas.

Cook is a MAAC level player. He played this many minutes only because Akok left late and other big transfers didn’t pan out. Him playing this much was plan c. To his credit he has done ok given the increased role, but still he’s not a BE starting caliber player.

If Epps can get Luis to foul out that will help

The complete lack of defense is so frustrating. First stop in forever, and we give them a second chance.

That was a travel. Pivot foot clearly came off floor.
