Stop passing the ball to Cook- let him hit he boards He’s too small to hit the boards against major competition. Need to let him go to work and hopefully the weak side hits the boards.

This is a BEYOND ludicrous tweet. But I respect the amount of water this man is willing to carry for Cooley.

Who is coaching this team? Before DePaul took the lead there was a timeout, and we came out of that timeout and two straight possessions someone pounded the ball and then shot without passing (Epps, then Brumbaugh). How much further into the season do we need to get before we start making good decisions? What is the role of the coaching staff here if we continue to make the same mistakes over and over again? Maybe we need some more assistant coaches (five not enough)?

That was ugly. Fortunately this isn't a moral win it is an actual win (may be the opposite of a moral win, with how ugly it was). Maybe it qualifies as an actual win and a moral loss?

Always happy for the players...that was a long stretch between wins...if anything at least it helps with morale you would hope...

Positives to this game? Brumbaugh getting experience, Epps shooting touch back? No positives. Lost a 13 point lead at halftime and gave up three open layups in the final 1:37. Seven of DePaul's last nine attempts were layups or within five feet. No fear. The positive is that we won when we easily could have lost. Cook is just a disaster on defense. I do not see how a Georgetown team with him logging big minutes at the 5 will be good defensively. His time needs to be limited next year. As far as Massoud, he’s a disaster. I don’t understand why he’s playing anything more than spot minutes.

not exactly a feel-good win.... Correct. But it would’ve felt a lot worse if it was a loss.

Confirmation of our earlier comments Cook has not hands. How many balls were dropped in his hands One three from Heath does not justify play. Ish is clueless. Continued lack of defense against the drive to the basket. Does Cook think someone will appear to block the path the rim. I cannot believe the Coaching staff has not pointed this out

While I’ve tried to give the coaching staff a lot of deference since it’s Year 1, playing Massoud 20 minutes when he went 0/3 and is horrible on defense is really inexcusable when you have Fielder there who has his own weaknesses but is a better player and the future.
I do think Epps has been better since he’s been off ball. I know some pile onto Epps but we wouldn’t have won tonight without him.
In line with others’ comment, I don’t understand why Cook doesn’t help on defense. It’s flummoxing. That is part of the reason we are last in Division I at the rim FG%. And while he’s improved somewhat, Cook’s inability to secure defensive rebounds remains a big and long term problem. Our defensive rebounding at the rim is ranked really really low too.

Cook was a middling player in the MAAC at Fairfield. I know as I watched him play many a game. In some ways he has been better than I thought he could at this level, but I had severe reservations about him being our primary big man. I give him and the staff credit for getting what they have out of him, but he's being asked to do way too much for the type of player/talent he is. He's neither big enough or skilled enough to play ~30 mins a night in the BE with any hope of success.
He's a great 6th/7th guy, and if he accepts that role next year, I think we're better for it. But under no circumstances would I be penciling him in to start again next year if we are serious about winning.

it is definitely hard to understand why Cooley won't play Fielder at the 4 in place of Ish's minutes. Even if Fielder plays poor D - it cannot really be worse than Ish. And Fielder will at least rebound and block an occasional shot, while offering just as much 3 point shooting and a whole lot more interior offensive ability.
Ish is completely useless at this point. At least early in the season he had some hot streaks of knocking down 3s. But he is barely even able to get off a 3 now, and he rarely makes them when he does. The rest of his game is awful.
Between Cook's struggles to defend and hold onto the ball, and Ish's overall poor performance - Fielder should be getting at least 20 minutes a game. maybe more if his high fouling rate would allow it.
Look at how much more playing time has helped Brumbaugh. He has plenty to work on, but he has been effective offensively for a nice stretch of games, and at least plays some occasionally solid defense. Fielder needs to be getting the same kind of opportunity.
I would be curious what the respective +/- numbers were today for Cook/Ish/Fielder. I would be surprised if Fielder's number was not far better than the others.

My favorite part of the game was when the color guy compared Brumbaugh to Pete Maravich and later to Luka Doncic.

sweet baby jesus - that was tough to watch. We usually play our worst ball in the 1st half, but we saved our ugliest ball for the 2nd half and came this close to blowing the game. I'm o.k. to go the rest of my life and not feel like I do right now after that.
Not sure I want to hear EC's presser. I'm sure they're relieved to get the W, but he had better mention the open 3's and easy points in the paint we gave DP with our defense.
Massoud got 3 pretty open looks for 3's and missed each one. As has been said, with his porous defense and not hitting 3's, he should see very limited PT. Hard ti justify. Don't think he'll get a question on that in the presser, but I wish he would.
Losing to us has to be the nail in the coffin for DP's tourney chances.

Still crazy to me that the program doesn't post postgame road pressers.
