We gave up a WIDE open layup. But we were playing the one team that would blow that opportunity.

Anybody still got qualms over getting a Center in the portal and giving Cook 16-18 mins a game? He got worked by Nelson.

Not 100% sure I’d say this was a “great no call”. Feels pretty icky to squeak by DePaul on three pretty questionable calls (Cook no travel, Epps shooting foul, this) but.. a win I guess?

Boy did we get lucky!!!!! "Luck is the residue of design." -- Branch Rickey I guess the design was to give up a wide open layup knowing, as SS said, that DePaul would blow it!

Positives to this game? Brumbaugh getting experience, Epps shooting touch back?

Positives to this game? Brumbaugh getting experience, Epps shooting touch back? Fielder in 8 minutes drastically outperforms Ish.

Positives to this game? Brumbaugh getting experience, Epps shooting touch back? No positives. Lost a 13 point lead at halftime and gave up three open layups in the final 1:37. Seven of DePaul's last nine attempts were layups or within five feet. No fear.

Glass half full spin: We should/could have beaten HC, TCU, Xavier, and Seton Hall, as we led very late in each game. If that’s the case we’d be 13-14 right now and 4-12 in the BE with a chance to win another 1-2 games. Which is probably where many expected going into the year (at least myself).
Glass half empty / pessimistic view: We were incredibly lucky to beat American, Merrimack, ND, and DePaul (x2), and could just as easily be 3-24 and 0-16 in the BE.
So I guess it’s evened out we’ve gone 5-4 in these toss ups, but it’s telling all 5 were against teams mostly worse than us.
This is a lost year regardless, but there’s part of me that can take myself saying we really aren’t too far off from expectations, but another (probably bigger) piece of me that thinks we’re a few bounces away from having a worse year than any Ewing season even.

I don't think Rowan fouled him. Looks like hand on ball.

And at least Rowan was trying to play some defense.

We’re lucky there aren’t any fans to boo because I thought Cook carried then double dribbled on that steal and break. Yes.
