Most importantly we want to see a style of play, a TEAM! Defend together, rebound together, share the ball, limit turnovers, and play good fundamental basketball. With a soft non-conference I believe the goal should be 17 wins. Very excited for Coach Cooley to breathe some life into this program, firmly believe he was the right choice to bring our Hoyas back to respectability and relevance.

Does anyone know anything about LeMoyne's team? Is there any chance they are good?

Does anyone know anything about LeMoyne's team? Is there any chance they are good? They made the jump from D2 to D1 this season. This will be their first game as a D1 team. They went 15-15 last year. Return most of their team and their starting 5 is likely to be 4 Grad students and a Senior. No real impact transfers - a bench guy from Ball State. They are an older team who has played together. Beyond that we should be more talented across the board - by a lot.

Does anyone know anything about LeMoyne's team? Is there any chance they are good? They were not a good Division 2 team so it's going to be a long season for them. Like most bad teams they don't have much in the front court so it's hard to see them giving us trouble. Their one true big was a backup who scored 2 points a game on a bad Big Sky team. The teams with good big men will be a big issue. I am most interested to see if LaMoyne can generate open shots and especially threes. Other than that it will be fun to see our new players and get an idea on rotation but there won't be a lot to take away as to how our season will go.

At a minimum I hope to see a team that is better organized, composed and cohesive. If that happens, we will be ten steps ahead of where we have been the last few seasons regardless of the talent we put out on the floor.

Unlike Ewing, I think Cooley will play the bench.

LeMoyne plays Villanova Friday, so on a relative basis, we can quickly get a gauge on how we stack up somewhat.
I can’t understate how refreshing it feels going into this season to be led by someone I have faith knows what he’s doing. The roster may be a little thin, but I expect an actual team concept as opposed to rolling out a collection of mismatched parts these last few, long years.

Greetings to all you awesome Hoyas supporters around the world. I’m so jealous of everyone who is able to attend this opening game of Coach Cooley’s tenure at the helm of our beloved program! I am in Kenya so I will not be attending, but I will live vicariously through all of your comments and insights!
Fill those seats!! Support the team!!

LeMoyne is KenPom #361 out of 362. We're unlikely to learn much about our team tonight. Anything less than a 20+ point win would be shocking. kenpom.comHoly Cross at KenPom #331, our Saturday opponent, is not much better.

A sense of optimism in the air for a new era of georgetown basketball. And here comes boya to let us know that if we don't win by 20 it's a failure. And if we do win by 20 we won't learn anything and the results will matter little. Oh and by the way, samesies for Saturday. New year, different coach, same Boya.

I appreciate this is a laughably low bar, but looking for two things tonight:
1. A team that plays hard and hustles 2. A team that enjoys playing basketball with each other and shares the ball
It was evident from opening night last year that these two things were not present. Hopefully we never see that type of basketball again.

"Season Preview: Game Grades for Every Single Georgetown Game This Season... Le Moyne Dolphins - Nov 7 (Tue) 7 p.m. FS2 Game Rating: A - I realize some could look at this first game against the mighty Dolphins of Le Moyne and be totally underwhelmed. After all, this is Le Moyne’s first-ever Division One game as they leave the D-II ranks and join the vaunted Northeast Conference. They also come into this game ranked 361 out of 362 by Kenpom. But I, for one, cannot think of a better first game for the Ed Cooley Hoyas. Le Moyne College is in Syracuse, NY, allowing the Hoyas faithful to expand our rivalry from one dumb school in Syracuse to the entirety of Syracuse, NY! They are also coached by Nate Champion, which seems a little presumptuous. I am on board. The days of Georgetown messing around with early-season cupcakes are over. Georgetown wins handily Hoyas Projected Grade: B Record: 1 - 0" www.casualhoya.com/2023/11/7/23950589/season-preview-game-grades-for-every-single-georgetown-game-this-season

Just excited for the season to start. A competitive team lifts my energy and spirits….makes it fun again to talk about gtown.
I’m all in on Cooley….though I was all in on Ewing at first too, and JTIIII early as well.
Just hoping we got a good one for next 5+ years
