Just had an impressive block on a dunk attempt. Check his instagram for the clip. He is a better shot blocker than we are giving him credit for.

No McD game for Sorber. Oh well. 3 DMV kids on the 24-man roster: Queen, Tucker and Freeman. Looking forward to Cooley bringing in top DMV talent like he said he’d do during his introductory press conference.

I would take Sorber over Bol every time.

Looking fwd to Sorber coming, but did anyone really think he had a shot at the MCDAA.
Not saying he can't ultimately be at the level or even above people playing in the MCD game, but he is not really dominating at the hs level--his team does not really even feature him in the game I saw, not his fault but just saying its hard to think he was really considered.

John Bol who is ranked 7th in the 247 Center rankings (37 overall) made the team. Sorber is ranked 8th (42 overall). So yes, I think he had a real shot.

At the end of the day, being designated a burger boy doesn't matter. It is a nice feather in someone's cap, but if it Editedes Sorber off and causes him to work a bit harder this summer, all the better.

I guess if I had to think of a floor/ceiling for Sorber, I guess the floor would be a slightly better version of Soriano on St Johns and ceiling maybe somewhere @ Sweetney. Sweetney seems quicker and more explosive, better ball handler etc. (though Sorber is bigger) but I really haven't seen enough of Sorber.
I saw Soriano in HS and I would say Sorber looks a little better, though comparisons are hard as Soriano was # 3 option on his HS team.

Felt bad for him last night lost on a 3 with 4 secs left in OT. Kid played hard and kept his cool because Nuemann-Goretti was holding and clawing at him to stop him and he was getting very few calls. Still put up almost 30 and had like 15 boards and a ton of block shots. The other div 1 kid on his team going to FGCU didn't play well. The Ryan announcer said he sees Sorber now as a 4 in college rather than a 5 and he said as a Freshman he saw him as soft but not now. I see now it was 25pts 16 rebs and 8 blocks. In a 60-59 loss.

He implied he would LIKE TO and HAS TO recruit the very fertile DMV area -- the goal is to keep that talent home and playing for GU.

Man Sorber was impressive tonight playing the team leading the Catholic league standings on the road. Won by 11. He killed it defensively blocking shots and passing. Scoring early also but when they clamped on him more. He passed amazing.

Could have had 4 to 5 more assists if his team made easy shots. Also he guarded some of their guards very well in space. That team has 3 really quick guards that can play.

That backdoor bounce pass was a thing of beauty. Can’t wait to see him in a Hoyas uniform next season.

That backdoor bounce pass was a thing of beauty. Can’t wait to see him in a Hoyas uniform next season. That game before against Nuemann-Goretti he had an amazing pass where there was a missed shot and he went for the offensive board but because he was gonna go over the back if he grabbed it tipped it to a teammate on the other side of the rim for an easy lay-up. It was a clear pass/tip not just luck. That move I've seen Bird do a lot back in the day.

We need four bigs next year. If Cook returns, there's one.
I've got Sorber penciled in as the #4 big to start the year, and Drew as #5.
I'm looking for a well-rounded 4 who can play both ends but skews 4/5, instead of 4/3. So... a Hopkins type - at least the bigger version of BH.
Also - a big defender 5, who could play anywhere from 5-25 minutes if need be. Think Onyenso, Bediako type. These guys are a dime a dozen, really. YMMV on production here, but this spot is not about that.
Lots of flexibility in that foursome. Depth, too. Gives Fielder another year to develop, and hopefully take that next step. Allows you to bring Sorber along at whatever pace he needs.
