Comparing a guy who had to redshirt to 3 HOFs. Love this place. A Jason Kidd who could shoot would only be the best point guard of all time.

The most shocking thing to me is that there is a player that lived at 35th & O that has the talent to be on a D 1 roster. Yes, I am stereotyping an entire neighborhood but I think we can agree that I'm right. This kid has the potential to be my favorite player if he can be a distributor from day one. I'm loving the hype train right now. All around DC there is insane talent. The Georgetown neighborhood up through the Palisades has a lot of good players. Many are are and have been on top travel teams from the area. Most of the good travel teams are all in PG County and pull players from all around the area. The travel team that Rowan was on bounced between 4 to 6 different travel programs over the years. That team has 5 players in D1 and one in Overtime. The whole area has a ton of great coaching around from team coaches (many with D1 and / or pro playing time, as well as skills and position coaches with most with D1 and / or pro playing (and or coaching as well). These coaches are all working with late grade school on up.

Comparing a guy who had to redshirt to 3 HOFs. Love this place. None of these guys were hall of famers in college, they became hall of famers, but nobody is dumb enough to think a college player is compared to a pro hall of famer player. That is delusional. Comparing college player to college player at the same stage, that is what is what I'm talking about. All had good court vision and accurate passing, with ball skills. Nash could shoot and the play making came later. There are quite a few good college players at point that don't progress and keep improving. That is up to the player and coaching. Most good point guards sit their first year. Villanova, Gonzaga, Virginia, St. Mary's, etc. all pretty much red shirt point guards the first year as it is an adjustment and a tough position. Hoyas haven't had a really good point guard since Terrel left. Watching Aiden at St. Mary's this year has been nuts as he didn't sit out a year and has poise and great court vision. Aiden is a better outside shooter than Rowan, but the rest of their games are really close.

Yall do realize that saying someone reminds you of "so and so" doesn't mean you expect that person to have a equal career?

Comparing a guy who had to redshirt to 3 HOFs. Love this place. If he brings one third of the quality of any of those HOFs, then he will be our best PG since Allen and we will get one&done-type C and wings who will want to play with him. I’m in.

This seems like insane hyperbole. But, have you watched him play? I've played with Kidd in summer runs when he was in high school and saw Nash and Stockton a lot in early college year. Watch Aiden a bit in high school, but quite a bit at St. Mary's and watched a lot of practices and games with Roway and summer runs with college and pro player in summer, whien he was in high school. There are a lot of similarities. I love the double down on this absurdity. Don’t back down and don’t change.

He was nuts. Not something normal around the Bay Area. David Carter, then point guard at St. Mary's (who won state championship his high school senior year at Crenshaw) was usually matched up with Kidd. Carter is now an assistant at LMU and in years prior was head coach at Nevada Reno whom he took to the Tourney. Watching those match-ups was really interesting. I've watched Rowan since he was a kid. Watched him a lot as a freshman and sophomore. When I saw him his senior year and no longer 6'1" but 6'4" I was amazed he still had solid handles still playing really good point. The height helps his already really good court vision. He's long been able to draw an extra defender and knows exactly who is open and where due to that double coverage and hit them with a solid pass for an easy basket. Teams adjust and don't double and he will get to the rim or pull-up and shoot. Watching him shift pace to keep the defense off guard is fun as well.

Saxagael, I played against him at the Krider All-American camp in Cincinnati the summer of '92. They flew him in for a few games and everybody was going at him. I gave him the business.....kidding! I do think we beat his team but he was sick the whole time. Guys like that are on another level. If Rowan can be a really good college player, I'll be thrilled.

This is my favorite quote from him in the interview: It shows an element of awareness few teenagers/young adults have. Yes, awareness: “But man, I’m just really excited. We need a point guard. Obviously this year, playing at Texas, that gave me a lot of motivation just playing with those dudes and killing them in practice every day. I’m ready to go and I’m really excited for the world to see.“ Distribute his share to Hunter D.: “At Texas you had a couple of NIL deals [e.g. Steve Madden, official logo merchandise]. Did NIL play a factor this time around once you were in the portal? I think my agency will hook me up, but that’s really the least of my worries. NIL is cool and whatever, but I’m more just about being a player, so that doesn’t really matter to me that much.” Awesome: “Are you trying to recruit any players yourself to Georgetown now? What do you think this roster needs now? I’m helping recruit Hunter [Dickinson], obviously. I know he’s coming on a visit. We’re pretty deep in the backcourt. We definitely need some more shooting, like a knockdown guy.”

Do you put Rowan on the same level or even very close to JK, because if you do we have a real gem. Asking for more definition is because even though the Longhorn starters are very good players, Kidd would have started in front of them as a frosh. He only played two years at Cal 92-94. Highlight was 1993 Sweet Sixteen and outing the Dookies with Bobby Hurley, Cherokee Parks and Grant Hill...Sweetness. And a freshman that year.

I remember watching a high school all star game on TV when Othella Harrington was a senior in high school, to check him out. Othella had a big game - I think he had 20+ rebounds. But the point guard for one of the teams was unbelievable. I immediately thought "I have not seen anyone pass the ball/play like this since Magic". It was Jason Kidd, and I was a big fan from that point forward.
Brumbaugh obviously is nowhere near as good as Kidd was coming out of high school - there are only a handful of point guards who ever have been. But if he plays the same type of passing-oriented game, with good vision and a solid overall skill level, at 6'4 - that is potential that is worth getting excited about.

When Kidd came into Cal there wasn't another solid point there, they had what are now combo gaurd and pure off ball guards. Cal seriously needed a good point guard. KJ Roberts was decent, but couldn't create well for others. It was a tough team to watch. Lamond Murray was good, but getting him the ball was tough. Adding Kidd Murray's points nearly doubled. Kidd with abiliity to create for others, as well as playing well and having the ability to get to the basket himself helped the whole team. That creating for others manufacturing miss-matches is what I'm talking about.

Rowan is longer than Ryan and runs breaks better than Ryan. But, a fair amount of similarities. Similar handles and ability to make space for themself. Rowan may be a better defender, he defends with his feet really well and good at poking the ball out. I always thought of Ryan as 6 foot to 6'1"
