Blown away by the press conference - obviously my position on Cooley has been clear for some time, but I don't think I've ever seen somebody hit so many of the right notes in a press conference like that. I'm still not thrilled with the process that got us here and the Georgetown decision makers involved, but I'm cautiously optimistic that if his words translate into actions, there will be a lot of success in the near future. Holy S. You ok?

Who were the past Hoyas that he called up to stand next to him?

Who were the past Hoyas that he called up to stand next to him? Jeff Green (in town with Denver to play the Wiz) and Robert Churchwell (Dean of Students at Gonzaga) were two.

It feels like there’s an adult in the room once again.

I mean. It's only an intro presser but my goodness it felt like I was listening to the HC of Georgetown in an alternate universe. Respecting JT legacy but making sure to separate himself as his own man. Bringing former players up as a backbone. Engaging media. Engaging students. Highlighting the need to lock down the DMV. I couldn't be more hopeful and excited for the future. Cooley demonstrate the emotional intelligence (EQ) that Ewing sorely lacked. A great quality for a leader. This is one of the reasons great players are so rarely great coaches.

Our new Coach hit it out of the park today.
A little too much Thompson worship for my taste but I am hopeful that was lip service for the moment and that he will chart his own course unfettered.
The only way the day would have gotten better is if it were announced that Ronnie has been future endeavored.
I guess that will be good news for a later day.
Coach set high goals; hope he exceeds them all.
Hoya Saxa!!!

It's been said, but, wow, what a press conference. I haven't been this excited about Hoya hoops in a very long time.
Eagerly waiting for that schedule to come out so I can figure out when to take my kids to their first Georgetown game!

Boya's post reminds me of a back peddling drill at the NFL combine.

I'm kinda surprised that folks didn't know how well Cooley handles press conferences, he's very impressive in these settings.

That sixth man, bench player or great locker room guy may be the "glue" guy whose on-court or on-field performance may not stand out but their mere presence makes for a winning team and culture. They may ultimately be better coaches and leaders.

He’d strangle him with his bare hands first…And if he does I’ll be right there giving him the Rudy clap.

If I’m the mother of a 17 year old and I get a pitch from that guy vs a 70 year old with dyed hair and a suit, who am I going to feel better about sending my son to? (Unless Rick’s bag man is very deep pocketed)

When you’ve successfully won over Boya you know you knocked the press conference out of the stadium

It is not Coach I worry about; DeGioia on the other hand has still not gotten off the Thompson pipe…
