Interesting note at the end of this story about Esherick being inducted into his HS Hall of Fame: He’ll be attending a dinner next month to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the NCAA title team. Nice to see him back in the fold, at least to a small degree. “Coincidentally, Esherick’s 50-year reunion at Springbrook also is scheduled for the night of Oct. 19. Then, on Nov. 8, Esherick plans to attend a 40-year anniversary dinner marking the Georgetown basketball team’s NCAA championship in 1984. He was an assistant coach on that team.” www.arlnow.com/2024/10/16/arlingtons-craig-esherick-to-be-inducted-into-high-schools-hall-of-fame/So who else is attending the 40th anniversary dinner of the NCAA Championship? Has anyone heard about this from Georgetown or is it an anniversary dinner not affiliated with Georgetown? Or so limited that "regular" Hoya fans (those who don't or haven't contributed big $$$) are not invited? Just curious if it is just another missed opportunity to engage the remaining Hoya fans, especially the longtime season ticketholders and contributors.

I made some inquiries and apparently the 40th Anniversary dinner for the NCAA 1984 Championship is a private, small event, obviously not being made generally available to others in the Hoya basketball community.
Some trepidation that Ewing may not attend but apparently he was invited.
I think it's good that Craig is attending.

This is a terrific story about someone who took a very long time to mature. I hope his restaurant opens and is a rousing success. I still have that Sports Illustrated issue (somewhere).

Old article, 2015 I think. Not sure if the place ever opened but it doesn’t seem to be open now. I hope all is well w the big guy.

I know that he catered a few Hoya Hoop Club BBQs after he won the lottery. I've seen him at Cap One for many Hoya games. Eric Smith and Lonnie Duren used to attend games on a regular basis as well.

Nice in depth Greg Monroe interview. Talks about Georgetown about 40 minutes into it.

LOL.....after the narrative about how the Princeton drove recruits away...in this case it landed us the #1 recruit in the country.

LOL.....after the narrative about how the Princeton drove recruits away...in this case it landed us the #1 recruit in the country. Instead of being honest to themselves, some of those guys decided to blame the offense for not getting to the league.

Statistically he looks great. But They’ve only played Alcon state, Monroe and LaCollege. There’s no question that he can do well vs inferior schools and Kenner. That was the case last year. Until he starts doing that against high D1 level schools I don’t think we can crown him.

I really don’t think he was one of our biggest problems year, I think he and Epps just couldn’t figure it out. Remember, one was a freshman and one was a sophomore, I think he will be a solid division 1 PG. I also think Mack will be better!!

I fought against the notion for years, in the belief it was just plain bad sportsmanship. But, I have come to believe that he was right, the '87 Region Final was rigged against Reggie and the Miracles
