"Top-30 junior Khani Rooths was one of the top performers this past weekend at Chapter II of the Adidas 3SSB Circuit. A 6-foot-8 talented forward out of Rockville (Md.) Rooths made an impact by ramping up his motor and overall production during the second live period weekend. “I wanted to make sure that I am being the leader of my team,” Rooths said. “I wanted to do everything possible to make sure that we win. We have a target on our back after winning last year so I want to make sure everybody is playing together.” Throughout his four-game stretch, Rooths attracted the attention of Alabama, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Texas Tech, Virginia, and Xavier on the sidelines. He says Alabama, Georgia, Maryland, Michigan, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia are the schools he hears from the most." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Khani-Rooths-Michigan-Alabama-Virginia-Tech-Georgia-209318810/

This is where our guy Kevin Nickleberry needs to come through: "With versatility and growth spurts, D.C. area’s junior class stands tall Recruiting website 247 Sports compiles composite rankings for the top 150 prospects in every class; there are eight local players on that list for the Class of 2024. In descending order: No. 28 Freeman (St. John’s) No. 48 Darren Harris (Paul VI) No. 56 Isaiah Abraham (Paul VI) No. 59 Robert Dockery (Jackson-Reed) No. 69 Drew McKenna (Glenelg Country) No. 81 Daquan Davis (St. John’s) No. 136 Caleb Williams (Sidwell Friends) No. 141 Patrick Ngongba (Paul VI) “These kids, a lot of them made a name for themself on the national level in seventh or eighth grade,” said Houston Wilson, a recruiting analyst and the recruiting and evaluation director for the popular CP3 Rising Stars National Camp. “People have been talking about this class for a while.” In addition to those eight, there are four players who started their careers in this area before leaving for far-flung, basketball-centric schools: No. 37 Khani Rooths (Georgetown Prep to IMG Academy in Florida), No. 76 Jaeden Mustaf (DeMatha to Carmel Christian School in North Carolina), No. 90 Del Jones (Bishop O’Connell to Huntington Prep in West Virginia) and No. 107 A.J. Swinton (DeMatha to Oak Hill in Virginia)." www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/12/06/with-versatility-growth-spurts-dc-areas-junior-class-stands-tall/"Nike EYBL Phoenix: 2024 Stock Boosters... DEL JONES, PG, TEAM DURANT Bossi’s take: Del Jones didn’t close out his weekend with Team Durant quite as well as he started it, but he sure looked good during the first two games scoring 17 and 21 points. Long and quick, he’s relentless getting to the rim and plays with mor physicality than you would expect from a relatively lean guard. Now, Jones has room to improve as a shooter from deep and he’s going to need to be more consistent with his decision making, but he’s trending in the right direction. Holding offers from the likes of Clemson, Mississippi State, Oregon, Rutgers, Texas A&M, UCF and West Virginia among others it may be worth keeping an eye on Ole Miss who appears to be making him a priority under new coach Chris Beard." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/LongFormArticle/College-Basketball-recruiting-EYBL-Stock-Boosters-209397741/#209397741_4

"Two premiere 2024 recruits from the DMV area are officially visiting Friartown this weekend in Point Guard Daquan Davis and Center Patrick Ngonba II. Both are nationally known recruits that would be foundational pieces for any 2024 recruiting class. Ngonba II is the 2nd ranked player in the state of Virginia, behind Duke commit Darren Harris. Recent Friar offers Garrett Sundra and Isaiah Abraham are third and fourth, respectively. The craziest thing about the rankings is the Top 4 players all play for Paul VI. Quite a DMV powerhouse, which we’ll discuss more of below... I can assure you that this is not me hedging my bets here. Even if Ngonba II chooses to go elsewhere, English is doing the right thing in aggressively recruiting him. Ngonba II plays for both an elite high school team in Paul VI and AAU team in Team Take Over, respectively. This is the type of recruiting that pays dividends long term even if Ngonba II doesn’t choose the Friars. Team Take Over’s roster has players littered with PC offers: Isaiah Abraham, Daquan Davis (currently visiting PC with Ngonba II), Garrett Sundra, and Caleb Williams, to name a few. English recently stopped by Paul VI to visit all of the players that English has offered. It is brilliant recruiting by English. Becoming friendly and close with Team Take Over and Paul VI is an astute strategy." theprovidencecrier.com/2023/05/06/crier-recruiting-corner-introducing-2024-center-patrick-ngonba-ii/

The clutch gene "When the game was on the line, Washington (DC) St. John’s College point guard Daquan Davis had the ball in his hands. Not only did he have the ball, but he also wanted the ball. The 6-foot-0 junior has a dynamic aspect to his game, there is an innate toughness that is apparent. Davis finished with 21 points in the game, 13 of them came in the second half of a one-possession game. Davis touched the paint, made his free throws, and defended the opposing team’s primary ball handler. He did each well. Davis has not taken any official visits yet, he has taken unofficials to the likes of Penn State, George Washington, and Butler. The point guard’s most recently claimed offer was from Illinois." www.on3.com/news/darren-harris-nyk-lewis-shine-in-wcac-playoffs/"When Kim English took the Providence College head coaching job, he instantly started recruiting. One of the first offers he handed out as head man of the Friars is 2024 guard Daquan Davis. Davis plays at St John’s College High School in DC and is a Baltimore native. This fits a theme of English aggressively recruiting the DMV area. Davis plays for Team Take Over on the AAU circuit, alongside big man Patrick Ngonba II. Both are visiting on an official visit this weekend." theprovidencecrier.com/2023/05/06/24-recruiting-spotlight-daquan-davis/#more-6898

"In the thick of the transfer portal feeding frenzy, Virginia Tech Head Coach Mike Young hit the road this weekend to watch the top high school players compete down in Atlanta... Isaiah Abraham Abraham, a Class of 2024 4-Star, ranked 60th in his class, dazzled and displayed his ability on day one. While positionally, he is listed as a small forward standing at 6’7”, Abraham moves like a guard and has plus shot-making ability. He has an effective stroke from range and can take it to the rack. The Fairfax, VA product can score on all three levels and has the natural talent to get above the rim and make plays. Also, Abraham runs the floor well, similar to the new Hokies transfer forward Tyler Nickel. On Day one, Abraham had 11 points on an efficient 5-6 shooting from the field in only 18 minutes. Mike Young and Virginia Tech offered Abraham on June 16, 2022. Patrick Ngongba II Next Ngongba, also a Class of 2024 4-Star, has had a solid weekend as well. High School teammates with Abraham at PaulVI Catholic in Fairfax, the 89th ranked player in this class towering at 6’10”, asserted himself in his contests. On the second day of competition, Pat tallied a double-double snaring 12 boards with 11 points going 4-5 from the floor. Ngongba is a natural shot-blocker and glass cleaner who does the dirty work for a team. Also, not a shocker, he played exceedingly well with Abraham on EYBL Team Takeover utilizing their chemistry from High School. Ngongba has offers from Kansas State, Iowa, and Georgetown among others." 247sports.com/college/virginia-tech/Article/Virginia-Tech-Mike-Young-EYBL-Isaiah-Abraham-Patrick-Ngongba-II-208786535/

"Donnie Freeman, the No.32 overall prospect in the class of 2024 has committed to Syracuse. Freeman is a 6-foot-9 power forward from Washington D.C and he chose the Orange over Texas, Iowa, Alabama, and Georgia Tech. “I chose Syracuse because Coach Autry has been recruiting me for a very long time and I’ve had the strongest relationship with him out of any other coach,”Freeman said. “Also brining coach Brendan (Straughn) from St. Joes was huge. The relationship was already there with them and they have great relationships with past DMV players. I felt it was the best opportunity for me to come in, make an immediate impact and achieve my goals.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/donnie-freeman-syracuse-adrian-autry--210068613/

In the rising senior class of 2024, one of the most glaring deficiencies is the lack of high-major caliber point guard prospects. In other words, there isn’t nearly enough supply to match the total demand that we see in a typical year. Because of that, college coaches are doing two things. They’re working to make inroads with the few points guards that have already emerged and simultaneously looking for others who have the potential to follow-suit in the weeks, months, and maybe even years to come. One such player is Team Durant’s Del Jones. On Friday, he didn’t have his best performance. He scored 12 points on on 5-12 shooting from the floor, including 0-4 from behind the three-point line, while handing out 4 assists, turning the ball over 5 times, and grabbing 5 rebounds. Nevertheless, he was still a focal point for Team Durant as they knocked off Team CP3. While he didn’t have a great shooting night, his stroke is clearly projectable. He’s got a good natural feel for the game, presence at the position, and command of his team. Consequently, it was no surprise to hear that Tennessee became the latest school to offer on Friday, joining a long list that also includes Ole Miss and Arizona State among a host of others." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-recruiting-eybl-patrick-ngongba-marcus-allen--210155018/

"Caden Diggs is a three-star 6-foot-6, 180-pound small forward out of Potomac (Md.) The Bullis School and since the AAU season rolled around he has been generating quite a bit of buzz... "Saint Joseph’s, Iowa has reached out, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and many more A-10s," he said of who he has been hearing from. Iowa: “They have been telling me they like my game, they play freely like I do and that I am a big forward.” Oklahoma State: "They said they are watching closely and trying to further the process." Saint Joseph's: “I like them a lot. Erik Reynolds went to the school I go to currently - Bullis. I am very interested in them. I will take a visit to them.” Texas Tech: “They say they like my versatility, how much I compete.” Diggs' recruitment is still in the early stages as schools are beginning to reach out and he has yet to take his first official visit. So far Diggs has taken three unofficial to Virginia Tech, Xavier and Richmond as he continues his search of his future home. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/2024-forward-caden-diggs-is-catching-high-major-eyes-210312038/

Tennessee is a great school and Coach Barnes is a great coach. I like the program and how they play. In addition to the Volunteers, Jones says Arizona State, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Providence are the schools pursuing him aggressively. He discussed each program with 247Sports: Arizona State: “They recently offered me but I have been talking to them for two months. I was on the phone with of their assistant coaches and he told me that they love my game. They love how tough I am and feel I will fit into their system. They said they are going to start recruiting me hard.” Ole Miss: “They are showing me that I am a priority right now. Chris Beard pulled up to my school last week. The whole staff talked to me and let me know that I am a priority.” Oregon: “With Kwame Evans over there, I know that there will be family there. I played with him last year and I already know the guys. The Pac-12 conference is a different league but I like their program. They are recruiting me hard and I like what they are talking about.” Providence: “I like the way they play. That school brings home vibes with Kim English being from Maryland. I feel like I will fit in their style. Coach English is a cool dude. We talk every week and I like him.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/del-jones-arizona-state-tennessee-providence-ole-miss-210326155/
