Listen, the DMV is always loaded. We just lost to Cuse who had Judah Mintz & Benny Williams. We will lose to Nova who has Cam Whitmore, Justin Moore and Brandon Slater. We will lose to UConn who has Jordan Hawkins. We will lose to Chuck Harris at Butler. We will lose to Providence who has Jared Bynum and Noah Locke. We would lose to Bryant who has Antwan Walker, Earl Timberlake, Miles Latimer, Sherif Gross-Bullock and Tyler Brelsford. We would lose to Michigan who has Dug McDaniel, Hunter Dickinson and Terrance Williams.
I'm not worried about the class of 2024. I'm worried about everything else with the program. We need a local kid in every class. You've got kids at Sidwell, St. Johns, Dematha, Gonzaga, St. Paul, Good Counsel, O'Connell.....every damn year. We've got to target the right kids with the right message. Pitino can do this. A whole new staff can do this.

Nickelberry brought his boys from LSU. Difficult to land ‘23 & ‘24 kids with utter lack of momentum. If that's the case, then he brought Murray who was vastly overrated and Ezewiro who didn't play at all last season. Are we supposed to be impressed by that?

Honestly, the whole point of having an assistant coach to specialize in recruiting is nearly impossible for Georgetown. I am not sure how anyone can recruit for this team.

Back to back winless conference seasons make for a compelling recruiting argument.

Back to back winless conference seasons make for a compelling recruiting argument. Coupled with the attrition rate, it is a real winner. “We never win and most of the guys you enter with won’t stay” Who could pass that up?

I don't really see much of a point in following recruiting threads these days. Unless a future coach of ours is recruiting these kids to his current school (something we can't really know at this point), do we really think we're going to land any significant players in the 2024 class (local or otherwise)? I'd rather not think about the trove of talent that we won't be signing.

If I had a son who was really good at basketball and was seen as a top recruit, I would highly advise him not to consider Georgetown. For anyone I truly cared about in the same situation, I would say the same thing.
This is coming from an alum and someone who had 6 family members go to Georgetown. I've flown and traveled for Hoya basketball for over 25 years. It crushes me, but I couldn't let anyone I care about (who had good basketball options) choose Georgetown for basketball.
I am 100% serious.

"DaQuan Davis ranks as the No. 87 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class and based on his performances from the summer and until now he should see his recruiting process really heat up... Several high majors have taken notice of Davis and while he has yet to schedule an official visit, it is expected his recruitment will heat up based on his play... Some of the schools he has been hearing from lately include Penn State, George Washington, Maryland, Butler, Mississippi State and Illinois, he told 247Sports." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/2024-4-star-PG-DaQuan-Davis-talks-high-major-recruitment-200344467/

It's at the point where anyone willing to come to Georgetown to play basketball must have judgement so poor that Georgetown shouldn't take them. Georgetown staff: "You want to play basketball here? Well then something must be so wrong with you that we don't want you. You don't have the proper judgement we expect from our players." What a nasty, nasty low point. Reminds me of a (really) old quote from Groucho Marks....."I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member."

I don’t see how we can recruit high school kids at this point. The program is challenged and freshman don’t play. What’s the pitch, sit for a year and transfer? It’s transfer portal or bust as far as recruiting goes.

"Rob Dockery is a 6-foot-7 small forward out of Washington (DC) Jackson-Reed HS that ranks as the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2024 class. He's a long and athletic slashing wing who can facilitate and create for others thanks to his passing ability and college coaches are in pursuit of his talents. Texas A&M, Mississippi State and LSU have been the schools in the most consistent pursuit, he told 247Sports, and he discussed each school at the Gonzaga DC Classic. LSU: "They have been texting me and I just got my phone back so we are getting back into rhythm." Mississippi State: "Their coaches have been in contact since the third session of adidas since last summer so I am just waiting to see what comes next." Texas A&M: "It's cool. I took an official visit. It was nice and I liked it. They're trying to build, build and build." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/2024-four-star-wing-Rob-Dockery-updates-his-high-major-recruitment-Texas-AM-LSU-Mississippi-State-200514785/

"Garrett Sundra is a name for fans and coaches alike to know. He's a 6-foot-10, 215-pound power forward out of Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI Catholic that is currently unranked in the 2024 class but when the next update rolls around, that ought to change. Sundra is a skilled and high IQ prospect who impacts the game in a variety of ways as a utility player as he rebounds, shares the basketball, sets screens, runs the floor, doing whatever it is that his team needs him to do to bring home the win... Schools that have offered and have been pursuing as of late include Iowa, Miami, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Butler, Sundra told 247Sports... Of those suitors, he has taken one official visit to Butler and two unofficials to Maryland and Virginia Tech." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/2024-forward-Garrett-Sundra-in-midst-of-a-breakout-season-Paul-VI-Catholic-basketball-recruiting-200431606/

"Virginia Offers 2024 Four-Star Center From Paul VI UVA has entered the mix for a talented 2024 center from Northern Virginia A 6'10", 215-pound center, Ngongba is the No. 3 overall recruit in Virginia, the No. 15 center in the country, and the No. 97 overall prospect in the class of 2024 per 247Sports. Virginia joins a growing list of programs who have offered Ngongba, including Maryland, Georgetown, Iowa, Butler, Kansas State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Wichita State, George Washington, and others. "2024 Jaeden Mustaf (Carmel Christian): What you must like about Mustaf’s game is his overall impact on the court; he plays and does so much on the floor for his team. We have spoken about his ability to get downhill and no one is slowing him down when he gets to the basket. But he is also tremendous in transition in pushing the pace, looking to make plays for others, his impact on the boards, and his relentless impact on the defensive end in blocking shots and locking up defenders. He filled it up on both ends and it is easy to see he is such a target for many." phenomhoopreport.com/pobs-best-of-the-best-phenom-holiday-classic/

"Ben Hammond, Paul VI (VA) – On a team loaded with not just division I talent, but nationally ranked prospects, it was the 5-foot-10 junior who stepped up to play the starring role. Eerily similar in stature to his predecessor, current Michigan freshman Dug McDaniel, Hammond utilizes his quickness and tight handle to weave his way in and out of tight seems in the defense. He’s also got a natural toughness about the way in which he competes as he’s fearless with his attack, able to dig out tough rebounds, and make timely big shots." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/college-basketball-recruiting-cameron-boozer-arrinten-page-200940434/

Interesting pre-Christmas local high school game tomorrow night (Wednesday 7:30). Alexandria’s Bishop Ireton, coached by Dwayne Bryant (also the AD), hosting area #2/undfeated Gonzaga. Ireton just into Top 20 in Wash Post after years of being “meh” in WCAC (likely still a middle of the pack team in that powerhouse conference but could be far more competitive — one of reasons tomorrow of interest). I don’t know if either team has anyone we are looking at or who are of national interest, but frankly latter all the more reason we should be there and get a foot in the door… Doesn’t Patrick like the idea of starting at the bottom ending up on the top? (Or something like that.)

I'm not sure where to ask this so will try here and maybe for someone like HoyaBoya and others closer to recruiting...
Are we even remotely on the radar for recruits not named Marvin Allen?
I can't even imagine the mess this creates on the recruiting trail. Who would want to come here right now unless you were a kid looking at a low level Div 1 school and you perceive playing in the BE as a substantial step up...
