FWIW, my comment about Don Reid (one of my favorite Hoyas of all time) and Henry Sims was to refute the comment that good players never have to sit for a year or two in college. Henry Sims was indeed a stud in HS. It was documented fairly well that he did not really work too hard at GU (by his own admission) until he was an upperclassman, at which point he played very well. Don Reid's HS numbers were okay at best. But Big John saw his frame and correctly figured what he would look like after a few years in the weight room. The guy was a beast as a junior and senior and had an amazing NBA career, give where he began. I have no idea what will happen to Allen, but hope it works out for all involved. What do you mean by sit? I’d say a guy like Anglin who didn’t play at all in half the games and averaged 3 mins per game over the season would be a guy who had to sit for a year. That is not what either Reid or Sims did and that is not a common thing for a good player to do. For sure Reid and Sims improved a lot by their junior and senior years but it’s not like they never played and then all of the sudden were good.

Good players do not want to sit for a year. In todays game, they transfer.

This was rather expected. He had a rather poor last year playing in high school, from a couple light stats (no explanation with them) with production drastically down. If he isn't coming, I wish him well where ever he ends up.

What do I know about ratings but that one shocks me...I would take Fielder over Marvel 10 times out of 10. I don't know how you remain a top 100 prospect when you have barely played in the last year.

Fielder's AAU coach says that he grew a bit to 6'11. Also I doubt he is still 185. They rarely update those things the last video I saw of him he definitely had put on some weight.

This is the Marvel Allen thread, and he's not going to GU.
Drew Fielder is, and someone wants to crap all over him for that.

FSU
I have some concerns that he wasn't seeing action for his high school team?

FSU I have some concerns that he wasn't seeing action for his high school team? Stay in touch for Year 2 (if he fits Cooley’s team philosophy).

“First, I would like to thank coach Ewing and Nickelberry for giving me an opportunity to join and be apart of the Hoya family. I want to thank the fans, and University for welcoming me with open arms since day one. Due to the coaching change and other events that led to this decision, I have decided to request a release from my NLI to Georgetown University. I will be opening my recruitment to all schools. Please respect my decision.” Allen ranks as the No. 147 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the nation’s No. 34 shooting guard and the No. 14 player in the state of Florida." www.on3.com/college/georgetown-hoyas/news/marvel-allen-requests-release-from-nli-with-georgetown/
