How does the firing of Ewing and hiring of Cooley change the situation with Allen? Is he allowed to break his NLI and would he? I doubt Marvel is a Hoya. If the Dual smoke is true there is no reason to bring in Allen as well. Marvel and Dual play two different positions, it could work unless Cooley bring in more of his recruits on board.

As a Nickelberry special, I'd be very surprised if Allen remains committed to Georgetown assuming Nickelberry is jettisoned.

I hope that we honor the commitment if Allen still wants to come to GU.

I hope that we honor the commitment if Allen still wants to come to GU. I would assume he will, but Cooley will definitely be honest about his chances breaking into the lineup. He has a lot of work to do.

That also is important. Allen should not come to GU unless he is willing to put in the work and, potentially, sit for a few years. College basketball players did that for decades.

Ah- understood- guys like Don Reid or Henry Sims must have been hot garbage. No chance they would for instance, make the NBA...

If he sits for a year, what are the chances he doesnt transfer?
Thats the difference between then and now. Good luck trying to develop anyone thats not ready to play day 1.

Fair enough, but that is a different issue. I believe Allen signed a NLI, and I think we should honor that if he still wants to come to GU.

Steve Martin barely saw action til he was a junior, became one of Georgetown's best small forwards of the 1970's.

Two things you’ll never be accused of - success or comedy. Acting maybe, but not success or humor. And he’s a better banjo player than you too.

I mean I know it's a safe assumption to guess what's going to happen here but still kind of weird there's been no smoke at all thus far.

Don Reid played in the NBA for 8 straight years, mostly for the Pistons, but also Wizards and Magic. Henry Simms had 135 games across 4 seasons with New Orleans, Philly, and Brooklyn.

It looks like some people missed the obvious sarcasm here, but anyway . . .
Henry Sims was the Baltimore player of the year. He might have gotten limited run in his first few years at GU (sitting behind his classmate, some guy named Greg Monroe), but he wasn't riding the pine as a high school senior.

FWIW, my comment about Don Reid (one of my favorite Hoyas of all time) and Henry Sims was to refute the comment that good players never have to sit for a year or two in college.
Henry Sims was indeed a stud in HS. It was documented fairly well that he did not really work too hard at GU (by his own admission) until he was an upperclassman, at which point he played very well.
Don Reid's HS numbers were okay at best. But Big John saw his frame and correctly figured what he would look like after a few years in the weight room. The guy was a beast as a junior and senior and had an amazing NBA career, give where he began.
I have no idea what will happen to Allen, but hope it works out for all involved.
