He deserves the same protection as my kids do going to school. If you want to protect him, change the gun laws. Kudos to you for saying this. I was going to respond to his inane comment but I figured “what is the point”? The lens through which he sees life is so strange that I don’t think there could ever be any event that could cause him to reconsider. There is no “coming to Jesus” moment here. Why does Brett Kavanaugh deserve more protection than innocent children or people going grocery shopping? I think I know where Jesus would side here. If this is what gets you “outraged” then I think you are beyond reason and help. Sad really. I think creating a security bubble in which Brett Kavanaugh and his family get to live, while at the same time he strikes down gun laws that affect the safety of everyone else is basic moral hazard. If you create special protections for him, he doesn't have to live by the consequences of his decisions. I read the FBI affidavit, and the suspect traveled from California to do this - he likely bought the gun locally despite being suicidal. Waiting periods and mental health checks would have stopped this.

I read the FBI affidavit, and the suspect traveled from California to do this - he likely bought the gun locally despite being suicidal. Waiting periods and mental health checks would have stopped this. I agree with your primary point. But it seems in this case that Roske actually brought the handgun with him from California and must have transported it in his checked baggage along with his other tools. The chances he declared the gun and followed TSA rules about having it in locked container in his baggage are about zero. He told the 911 operator that he came directly to Kavanaugh's house from the airport. ATF will determine the origin of his handgun. He sounds like a dangerous nut job but whether he has a documented history of mental illness is yet to be determined. Roske described his physical appearance to the operator and said he took a taxi from the airport, which dropped him off at Kavanaugh's address. During the call, he said he was "just around the corner from it." He then suggested that he had found the Supreme Court justice's house by looking at images that were shown in the media. Officials said Wednesday that Roske was armed with a handgun, a knife, pepper spray and burglary tools. He was stopped a block from the justice’s house. And when police detained him, he said he was there to kill Kavanaugh, the officials said. www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/man-gun-kavanaughs-home-told-911-need-psychiatric-help-rcna32871

There’s little doubt that this guy was definitely very into left wing causes. Curious what his mind set was that he would call 911 and inform them of his intent. That's why I posted the link - Hoya73 was completely wrong. Yes, thanks for the correction.I did lose track of which direction the thoughts" were coming from. My bad, apologies.for wasting people's time with that mistake.

Of course, it really depends which Justice and on what side of your litmus test they fall as to whether we shout from the podium in the halls of Congress. McCarthy is a shameless POS. How about if the Big Insurrectionist fires Clown Nunes, and hires Clown McCarthy as his replacement?

Favorite tactic: try to change the subject. I didn't ask for outrage. Did not change the subject at all. Nobody should be subjected to attempts to kill them. You changed the subject on yourself by talking about Schumer. You’ve got a sliding scale on this but you won’t admit it. That’s fine. I disagree. That’s also fine. I know Schumer’s comments from 2020 are all over conservative websites and Newsmax / Fox but he retracted them in 2020. www.newsweek.com/chuck-schumer-brett-kavanaugh-roe-v-wade-pay-price-comment-1713964As for outrage, sure I was being hyperbolic, but where were you when the same thing happened to Tony Fauci? Crickets. I'm so surprised that Ed goes silent when someone points out that he's either been disingenuous or has been shown to be hypocritical. Ed, what happened to your integrity? You used to try to back up your posts. Now, you don't even bother. Is it because you can't, perhaps? Get off of my lawn isn't a catch-all, FWIW.

And calling those with differing opinions "leftists" is nonproductive and indicative of an inability to respond in a rational manner.

I loved this. It should only prove true, but I'm not holding my breath.

Gay marriage next up? What are they teeing up for the next regression??
"In a separate opinion, Thomas expressed his support for revisiting other Supreme Court rulings that he and other conservatives believe should be left to individual states. For example, he wrote that the court should move forward with revisiting the right to contraception and the right for same-sex couples to marry."
