If Gonzaga was to join:
-Probably only need to be basketball as olympic sports can't really pull that off well I think and would just be ridiculous
-Probably split the conference into east and west to lower travel overall but who knows if the other conferences with 20 teams in the future get a bit stingy with OCC then we just do round robin
-Gonzaga buys private jet
-Also someone joked on social media that Gonzaga should just move the school to Boston or a media market in our sphere but I mean is there anything wrong with them just getting some office floors like some grad schools do in a spot to "attend" hybrid classes out of it when they are on the East coast for a week at a time lol I am just spitballing but whatever Grand Canyon University has a team now so who knows and I was a fan when they made the tourney last year, they have an interesting history as a school
Overall it just makes sense on every level except travel which I feel like in this ever growing cut throat world of college sports they just say F it and do this before anyone else wises up. Gonzaga secures their future as a high major job after Few retires which might not be for awhile anyway at 59 but this is their best scenario if we are the only ones taking them, and the Big East could genuinely be the best conference in the country again in a given year with at least two contenders in nova and them (uconn coming back also is a positive as well for men's and women's bball) and who knows one of the old big hitters might get it together on the top stage, looking like Marquette rn, which would be very positive

Mountain West involvement? No rumblings of that I'm aware of over here in Aztec land. Maybe just a reference to when the Big East almost added Boise and SDSU a few years back? Didn't make sense then, and wouldn't make sense now.

Find this hard to believe.
But if Goodman says it’s not happening, then it might really be a thing…

I also wouldn't mind adding 2 other teams (1 more to each of East/West) to make it 14 in total and 7 in each. Play round robin then a few games against the other division.
Most of this is coming from Gonzaga insiders anyways so they're probably just using it as a negotiation tactic for something else.

Math test: Home and home within each division and alternating year home games across the divisions would mean the most league games that an unknown team could lose in a year would be . . . 16. This also leaves more room to schedule the entire MEAC. I like it.

Saw a tweet where someone called it the BIG division and the EAST division. I like that.

From east coast perspective it appears to suggest it makes sense because it's just flyover country. However, it's 1,800 miles from Spokane to Chicago and almost as far from Spokane to the other cities.

staying in school deserves an announcement People of HoyaTalk, thank you for your support over the past year. I’ve given 100% to every comment I have posted, and I am grateful for the emotional growth I’ve gained from offering comments from the sidelines of an 0-20 season. I achieved one of my dreams of winning a score prediction, and I regularly posted even when it felt hopeless. I’m focused, and now, after much prayer and reflection, I’ve decided to RUN IT BACK. Looking forward to another season of hard work and moving toward my long term goals of hitting 2,000 posts, and managing to say the same thing 100 different ways instead of just 99.

Coaches openly chasing portal kids are going to have a hard time building consistency & “culture”

Coaches chase portal kids because their players are transferring in droves.
