Fox Propaganda counter programming fail.
Fox News Channel elected to not air Thursday’s January 6 hearing live last night, which took place in primetime from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET. While the cable news network topped CNN’s carriage of the congressional committee’s hearing in total viewers, it did not come close to MSNBC’s massive tally.
MSNBC averaged a whopping (for them) 4.161 million total viewers, trouncing both Fox News (2.957 million total viewers) by 29 percent and CNN (2.617 total million viewers) by 37 percent. CNN finished way ahead of its direct cable news competition in the key demographic for news programming, adults 25-54, with 709,000 viewers from that age range vs. 555,000 on MSNBC and 513,000 on Fox. That’s a 22 percent advantage over MSNBC and 28 percent win over Fox News.

Wasn’t it also on the networks (I DVRed and watched from PBS)? I’d be more interested in knowing how many tuned in, across all channels, than who won the three-way cable-news ratings battle.

In the latest TV ratings, ABC led the primetime Thursday coverage of the House Select Committee on January 6th’s first public hearing. ABC’s two-hour coverage averaged 4.9 million total viewers, TVLine has learned. Of the other broadcast networks, NBC tallied 3.6 million viewers, while CBS drew 3.4 million. (Fox aired MasterChef Junior and Don’t Forget the Lyrics reruns; The CW’s regularly scheduled drama programming is detailed below.) Amongst cable news networks, MSNBC led the pack with 4.2 million total viewers, followed by CNN’s 2.6 million viewers. Fox News, which didn’t cover the hearing itself, averaged nearly 3 million viewers during the two-hour block. Fox Business (to which Fox News anchors’ actual news coverage was relegated) drew 223,000, while CNBC averaged 160K.

Apparently Brittany Spears’ mom not being invited to her wedding is bigger news on Fox than the intentional assault on the truth and the grifting of 250 million dollars from his supporters that Trump committed in 2020 and 2021. Definitely not a news network. A guy cons their viewers out of 250 million dollars and they don’t even bother to report it on their website. The Murdoch’s laughing all the way to their bank….. in Australia. What do they care if destroy the US along the way.

The most famous hosts at Fox News have long boasted that Rupert Murdoch, the company patriarch, endorses their commentary, or at least their right to blast it over his airwaves. “I’m 100 percent his bitch,” Tucker Carlson said in a 2010 radio appearance. “Whatever Mr. Murdoch says, I do.” Delaware Judge Eric M. Davis on Tuesday rejected Fox Corp.’s motion to dismiss, concluding that Dominion had “adequately pleaded proximate causation based on its ‘factual allegations of wrongdoing attributable to the corporate parent’ — i.e., Fox Corporation.” The ruling follows similar court defeats for the conglomerate: In December, Davis rejected a dismissal motion in Dominion’s case against Fox News, and in March a New York judge did likewise in a defamation suit brought against Fox News, Fox Corp. and others by voting firm Smartmatic. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/06/23/judge-rejects-fox-dismissal-effort-dominion-lawsuit/

Demonstrates how tecnologically-challenged and stupid Carlson is. Does anyone still believe that erasing your emails or text messages make those electronic communications unrecoverable?

Aside from the white nationalist personalities (Carlson, Hannity, and Ingraham), there must be some top down mandate to start taking shots at Trump. I think it is simply a craven calculation that they have to get behind DeSantis for 2024, marginalize Trump, and distance themselves from Trump for the day time viewers who may not watch the stuff at night. I think Trump has become a liability, and they fear him running and losing in 2024. The night time viewers are so far gone that they have no taste for anything anti-Trump but will more than happily vote for DeSantis because that’s who they are. There’s nothing on the up and up about calling out Trump. It’s not integrity, it’s becoming a necessity.

There’s nothing on the up and up about calling out Trump. It’s not integrity, it’s becoming a necessity. This comes straight from the top: Rupert Murdoch, who privately despises Trump but not enough to risk his ratings. For two weeks last December Fox hit Trump harder and Trump marshalled his supporters to migrate to OAN. Ratings dipped, Murdoch went back to the old ways, and ratings returned. If, and it's still an if, Fox sees DeSantis as the man to carry the banner in 2024, they'll drop Trump like a dead weight, and the on-air talent will be instructed to ignore him, which is kryptonite to the nation's greatest narcissist of recent history. The base isn't going to go to OAN, so if they're told to ride with DeSantis, they will.

www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/tucker-carlson-highland-park-women-privilege-b2116980.htmlFirst Trump and his relationship with his dad, now Tucker and his relationship with his mom, sister, wife - whomever. Why must the world keep paying for weak, insecure men's childhood traumas? There is so much wrong in this whiny rant, but FOX has to be accountable, too, for airing this so that all the mini-trumps and mini-tuckers can not only face and deal with whatever their issues are but also so that they feel enabled and supported in their murderous rampages. Of course, to not say more than this is to miss the bigger, elephant-in-the-room, red flag of all -- these pieces of the growing, violent, white supremacist evil at work all around us. El Paso, Uvalde, Pittsburgh, Charleston and others. Better not teach about it in schools.

Seems the WSJ can give Fox a run for their money.

Many right wing outlets are gloating that the rapist is undocumented and never apologizing for calling the case a lie in the first place.
