We need to get old… fast! No more 2024 kids unless they are Top 15 in their class. I count 3 upperclassmen for 2024-25 as is…

Cutting Nike’s influence is probably a negative for Georgetown.

Cutting Nike’s influence is probably a negative for Georgetown. NIL is a disruptive element, and whether someone wears Nike or UA is less and less important to someone who simply wants a deal. The degree to which Nike plays a formative role with the contemporary program is, like many things at Georgetown, difficult to pin down. The first 20 years of the relationship were, in many respects, more of a personal services contract with John Thompson than the University itself, as Nike didn't begin to outfit other Georgetown teams until the mid 2000s. When Thompson left the Nike board, I suspect any special relationship with Georgetown went with it.

Cutting Nike’s influence is probably a negative for Georgetown. it is now an Arms Race with NIL money raising the cost of doing business - but with no guarantees of wining more games but without NIL you will likely lose

Fake news - parody account. Unless you also believe the same source who tweeted that Cooley is about to retire.

It's going to be fun to see Providence at the bottom of the standings again in the near future.

It's going to be fun to see Providence at the bottom of the standings again in the near future. When will that be? 24/25 unless they hit on some of these transfers. Barron, Floyd, Pierre and a recovering Hopkins don't get you very far. Losing Carter & Oduro along with a jump needed from a now leaving Dual isn't great. That roster w/ Carter & Oduro got them 7th and no tourney. I would put Provy down with us & Depaul next year if I'm being honest.

Cutting Nike’s influence is probably a negative for Georgetown. Adidas wings really were clipped with relation to travel teams and "guiding players" to colleges in the shoe family. Nike this seems to not have been hit has hard. There are a lot of Nike high schools with players on Nike travel teams and headed to Nike college programs. The Nike EYBL is still really strong and many of the top players "somehow" end up at Nike schools still. The Adidas Gauntlet program was seriously cut back (I don't know that it still exiists after pandemic). It was a non-shoe affiliated top travel teams, where it was a play into their Adidas end of season tournament with travel and uniforms covered by Adidas for that end of the season run. If a team / program could play into the Gauntlet four or five years in a row, they could become year-round sponsorship with uniforms and shoes covered, some coaches money, and some travel money, but not at the levels of their top travel teams.

This is interesting as Georgetown has been reported to have ~$4M in NIL money to spend on this year’s recruits.

This is interesting as Georgetown has been reported to have ~$4M in NIL money to spend on this year’s recruits. This article seems rather off, by the small snippet as Bonny is reportedly over $4.0 in NIL per year (that may be more than school contributed). I don't pay a whole lot of attention to NI, I think it is a good thing to have as I've known quite a few players who have struggled getting through with basics like food and parents who deeply struggle, but when the upper ends I don't pay much attention to). I know donors to other men's programs (in Big10) and $4 mil total sounds low. We know Kanas is more than willing to spend on players. --- As the article starts to get into explaining how it got to the numbers after a lot of fluff to get me interested, I get the subscribe message and article cut off, but I do subscribe. The CBS 247 site does this about the same as ESPN+ doing the same thing (I've hired a few ESPN developers and engineers over the years and know too much about why they have these problems).

This is interesting as Georgetown has been reported to have ~$4M in NIL money to spend on this year’s recruits. A couple things here— I think the real number is closer to $3MM and that includes retaining current players, locking in the 2024 class, and recruiting 2025 class, in addition to tranfer portal — I am not dismissing that this is enough money that we should be able to compete but it’s not as simple as saying we have 3 million to splash around in the transfer portal

This is interesting as Georgetown has been speculated to have ~$4M in NIL to spend on recruits. Recruits = 24 recruits, 25 recruits, re-recruiting your own players and Transfer portal What is so hard to understand about that?

This is interesting as Georgetown has been speculated to have ~$4M in NIL to spend on recruits. I'm skeptical about all these "a coach called me" stories especially when it comes to NIL which we all know coaches will demonize as much as possible
