Highly unlikely that Georgetown will ever predominantly get players from the transfer market. Ewing gets a lot of freedom and leeway, but deliberately primarily targeting transfers would probably be a nonstarter for the administration.
Missing out on Watson, Ward, Whitmore, Mintz, Brumbaugh in this class plus the misses in previous classes does necessitate reflection and changes in local recruiting strategy. Hard to find anyone who thinks Waheed is pulling his weight.

If everything people say about Waheed being the local guy is right and not doing much then gotta get rid of him plain and simple, I looked forward to turning the page on a lot of the transition time between coaches and early players (loved the old guard of Blair and pickett but it feels great to be basically starting fresh with some sweet pieces and good memories from the first coaching saga of Ewing) but waheed is still around and it has been too many years now

To me it seems that the message that is being relayed to local guys is starting to resonate. Think about the last two recruiting classes before '22 and you'll see the staff wasn't getting even a sniff from the top guys. With this class Ward, Watson, and Brumbaugh were all listening. I don't believe Whitmore was ever coming and Watson may still choose us tomorrow. Something weird happened with Ward. I think it just takes time to build these relationships and we have to be patient with the local kids. You have to remember that GTown hasn't been a winner in most of these kids bball lifetime. When was Otto?... 2013?

I hope the coach keeps selling until the decision is made. Miami is a helluva town, but so is DC. Keep selling and closing Coach Ewing! Close the deal!!!!

While his point is absolutely factual on its face it lacks any context. Whitmore decided to not stay local. Maryland was considered a leader early on, and they didn't even make his final 3. Not sure Ewing can get a ton of blame when a kid decides he wants to get away from home. Ward was over the second Xavier hired Jordan Brooks in June. Ward and his family had a close relationship with Brooks. If anything, I was pleased we moved away from Ward fairly quickly when it became obvious his ties were elsewhere. Watson would be the only true "swing and miss" of a local Ewing had clearly prioritized. I get the importance of local talent, especially when the local area is a fertile recruiting grounds - but man, this is a lot hand wringing for a top 15 class this year and a fast rising 4 star shooting up the rankings so far committed for next year with a 5 star top 5 overall player type seriously considering us. I guess consistent losing breeds this type of malcontent, and I get that, and I'm in no way excusing Waheeds inability to close many local recruits, but if we have two back to back top 15 classes nationally and back to back seasons with a McD AA after many without, this conversation will look pretty foolish imo.

The Hilltop Hoops account is the worst.
You don't have to pump sunshine 24/7 for the program, but any hint of disagreement with program results pushes this account quickly into negativity. It has too many followers to be so angry about the program all the time.

I think we need to await Watson's decision tomorrow.

He also does not represent everyone's views about the program. I follow hoyajournal personally. They deal with more factual info. Instead of opinions.

Hilltop Hoops does us no favors by constantly being critical of the program.

Hilltop Hoops does us no favors by constantly being critical of the program. While I very much appreciate the information Aidan provides and his dedication to Georgetown, it seems like he takes digs at the program every time the opportunity presents itself, which certainly hurts the program. As someone else noted, recruits and their families look at these tweets. Don't get me wrong, it's fair game to criticize the program, but the same constant criticisms coming from such a public account need to stop -- it just make the program's job harder, and I am pretty sure that's not Aidan's intent. For example, it's fair to have the view that we should hire a young assistant with Georgetown blood, but do we need 30 tweets over 2 months criticizing the program for failing to do so? How is that helpful? As another example, it seems like whenever we miss on a recruit or a rival signs a top recruit, the sky is falling and we can't recruit (on the heels of this year's recruiting class, this criticism is most definitely misplaced). Lastly, do we need a tweet every day reminding us that Georgetown needs to get with the times? No program is perfect, ours included. For all of the shortcomings we may have, we also do some things pretty damn well. Last time I checked, we took a roster expected to finish last and won a big east championship while bringing in one of the nation's top recruiting class. The sky is, in fact, not falling.

I think it's curious he announced his commitment date the day after Whitmore announced his top 3. I guess we shall see.

Lol hey I remain optimistic till his decision. It's Miami or Georgetown. I think the choice is clear. Regardless of what the insiders think.

Could it be that we feel less hopeful with Livingston so we finally made a committable offer to Watson? Hence the reason for his moving up his date?

After Watson announces for Miami I look for either Livingston and Martin to possibly make some noise what their plans are.

Watching and participating on this board about Georgetown Basketball is often a downer. Some posters show up just to cast things down. Are they for Georgetown Basketball? Are they fans or just the peanut gallery? Sniping at the John Thompson glory days and hoping for what?
If recruits watch this crap many might think otherwise about coming here. We're (our team) is getting better, not worse.
