He’s going to bust up that Syracuse zone. Orange juice anyone?

Sounds like we are working hard to shore up areas of weaknesses. The college game is changing rapidly. I think both Gonzaga and Baylor showed us that.

Where are these scholarships coming from? The scholarship situation will work itself out, it always does.

Where are these scholarships coming from? On the Zags forum they are pretty nonchalant about it saying that scholarships are just for 1 year and are either renewed or not each year.

At least with these transfers, we will have them before a departure or two instead of reacting to them

Really like this pickup. Another guy with size who will be able to fill shooting roles previously held by the outgoing class. Caught a couple of quick clips; first thing that came to mind was a slightly more athletic and efficient Reggie Cameron. Love the quick release, but wondering if shot selection can be an issue at times. If he can hold his own on the defensive end, he will be a major asset for next year's team.

Love the quick release, but wondering if shot selection can be an issue at times. If he can hold his own on the defensive end, he will be a major asset for next year's team. I definitely think this is a solid pickup. I love that he shot free throws great this season (88.25), though he didn't draw a ton of fouls, and I also love that his two point percentage was high (58.5%). That essentially makes him the only efficient two point shooter on our team, now that Wahab is gone. His turnover rate is also REALLY low at 9.5, which was 55th best in the country. In all these ways, he's definitely an upgrade in talent level. On threes, I know he ended the year particularly badly, but 32% isn't really very good. He did shoot better than that his sophomore and junior seasons, and hopefully with taking fewer shots he can be more efficient. Clearly, he was given the green light to shoot away at Citadel, and they play at a blistering pace, so I expect his shot attempts will decrease a lot at Georgetown. That's not necessarily a bad thing as long as he takes better quality shots. His O rating in his four years was 104.5 last year, and 91.7, 106.4, and 92.4. So, a little all over the map. I think he can definitely help us, no doubt. I just wish the staff would focus on some guys who shoot threes at higher percentages, too.

If someone is looking for an idea of how GU could play defense with the new personnel, that is not the article that person is looking for...

We have too many choices. I think he will average around 5-7. Shot selection is the key.

In the one game against NC AT&T he shot 4-16... I think 2003 is right in saying he hasn't been a high percentage 3pt shooter in this career so far...

Let’s hope fewer shots and better looks get the percentages up.

He shot threes at a 34.8% clip last season which included the end of year slump. 88.7% from the line. Okay, I figured out the reason for this discrepancy. Against Division-1 competition ONLY, he shot 32.1% and his O rating was 104.5. If you include his 4 games against non-D1 competition, he shot 34.8% and his O rating was 108.1. He shot 50% from three point range, over 42 attempts, in the 4 games he played against non-Division 1 competition. And yes, while the three point line is the same, it's not a great sign that his three point percentage was almost 3 points lower excluding the non-Division 1 opponents. Again, I think his addition to the team is solid, he brings good size, he shoots twos very well, free throws very well, and he doesn't turn the ball over - all really good things. But, he is not a sharpshooter from three point range.

During his conference games teams probably couldn't over commit to him and thus his % was higher. I would assume (having never seen the kid play) that a move up in competition means lower usage, higher percentage shots. Could just be hoya colored glasses though.

He was the 1st or 2nd option at Citadel. Ideally he will be the 4th or 5th option with us, so should get more open looks.
