Tim is fairly mobile for a huge guy his size. No, I do not want him playing on the perimeter, but he can do more than patrol the paint.
Malcolm actually is better on the perimeter than the inside. His problem is a lack of power. But he can blocks shots from the weak side.
I would love to see Tim, Malcolm, and Ryan get minutes next year. We shall see.

He moves very well and is a plus athlete. On the interior, he gets pushed around. He needs to be eating like Shawn Blimp and lifting weights like Don Reid.

If he doesn’t have a developed shot from the perimeter (and who knows really), then the opposing team will be able to ignore him outside and double somewhere else or pack the lane. That would be bad. We need the lane to not be clogged for Aminu, Jordan et al. to penetrate. We need our five players on the court to draw the defense’s attention.

My assumption is that Wilson would just be setting screens and playing garbage man on offense during his limited minutes, which is fine with me.

I really am okay with one garbage man on the court at all times. There are only so many shots to go around. We need folks who can steal points off the glass, loose balls, breaks, etc., and be happy about that.

What I like about playing Wilson is stealing fouls away from King and Timmy. In particular, I like subbing him in on dead balls with less than a minute to go before TV timeouts. It would provide a change of pace and avoid costly fouls. King and Timmy foul a lot. They need to reduce that, but they are going to get fouls called, and we need to have plans in place to deal with that issue.

I'd agree with you about Wahab if I knew for sure TV at Coach Ewing wasn't going to play Tim I. and/ or Mutumbo @ the 5 spot... He can play them at "the 5" without them clogging the paint a la Wahab. Maybe not so much Tim based on what we know, though I think he was more mobile than Wahab, but certainly Ryan has stretch potential. My biggest issue with it though is he takes us to task for all the lost PT but doesn't seem to ding other teams for more severe losses or holes in their rosters. Provy and MU (which finished behind us) don't have PGs, and we have a BET MOP returning in that role, not enough to move the needle. Creighton lost its entire roster - no problem, some DII transfer will solve that. He discounts everything we've got and hypes everything other schools have, which just seems disingenuous. SJU is another one - they return a rising soph PG who had a break out year and one side piece - Adae-Wussu - (with Champagne still being a question mark), but their roster improves despite all the attrition while our rising soph breakout PG and one returning side piece in Carey (who I take over Adae-Wussu every day - is depleted while theirs is good for 3rd in the league? I am just not buying the analysis that says Joel Suriano and Stef Smith are a huge upgrade compared to Aminu, King, Mutombbo et al. He doesn't even recognize that Beard, with a PG year under his belt and NY POY Riley are major additions. Weak sauce. PE seems to prefer to play an "inside/out" style of offense which is the main reason I'm not convinced we won't see a decent amount of of Tim or Ryan... Ryan has stretch potential but will he be able to contribute in this manner right away?

I'd agree with you about Wahab if I knew for sure that Coach Ewing wasn't going to play Tim I. and/ or Mutumbo @ the 5 spot... Exactly. I think if Ewing uses the loss of Wahab to shift to a more open floor style of play, Wahab's loss may hurt less. However, if Ewing sticks with an offense where dumping the ball into the low post frequently is a major part of the offense, Wahab's loss will be huge, because nobody we have is going to be as good as he was from that position. I really do hope we move in a more modern-style direction, but we still essentially have 3 guys on the roster who are more 5's than 4-5's (Ighoefe, Wilson, Mutombo), and I find it hard to believe Ewing is going to give all three of them combined an average of 10 minutes or so per game. Going away from the inside-out approach Ewing has relied on would make sense. Our strength will be the backcourt, not the frontcourt this season, and that change in style would match our roster better, I think.

Learning to set effective screens without fouling away from the basket will be important for all three of our centers...

I don't see this analysis as being unrealistic. The bottom line is....we lost all of our seniors and upperclassmen. We are truly truly a young squad with guys who have to learn how to play and compete on the college level and they have to learn how to play together. This is a very tall task for our young fellas. There was one other analysis that had the Hoyas at the fourth spot which I thought was too generous. However, If we get there I will be elated but my expectations is that we will fall between 7 and 10. By normal college standards our team isn't that young. We have 1 soph, 2 Sr and 2 fresh in the starting lineup. It may take a few weeks to gel but most teams deal with this yearly or at least every 2 years. HFSEE the 80s aren't coming back. The team that we should be striving to become will have 1 to 2 kids leaving by sophomore year and being replaced by high 4*/5* kids. Similar to the Nova model. Zeke this has nothing to do with the 80's and so I am not sure why you are bringing that up. Also, I don't see it the way you see it as it being normal for teams to have a bunch of freshmen and sophomores on the team with no seniors. Grant it our seniors did play to their senior year but what happened with us is not normal (meaning the transfers of our top rated players in their freshmen and sophomore years). The only reason why we had guys leave was because they either were disgruntled or they got into trouble. No other Georgetown team, that I could recall, has had this many transfers happened in such a short period of time so I don't see this as a normal thing as you might see it. Now if we were like Kentucky or Duke where at one time they were getting all 5 stars and high 4 star players each year and who were deemed to be lottery picks after their freshman year, then I would agree with you about always having freshmen and sophomores that make up most of your team. But no I don't agree with you that we should get used to playing with freshmen and sophomore players every year. You mentioned 2 seniors in your "normal" model. Who are the 2 seniors on our team? ? So, my argument was that we are going to finish in the bottom half and not the top half of the Big East and it is mainly because we have a very young team. Players are going to have to learn the playbook, how to play on the collegiate level and how to play with one another. The teams who have most of their returning players will have an edge on us because of the factors that I stated therefore I see us as finishing in the bottom half of the conference. Now if Jordan and Aminu can will us to some more wins because of their talents (both on offense and defense), that would be great because that's what it is going to have to take for us to get to the top half of the Big East.

I'll take it, ideally want to have at least a game against every P5 each season and none should be the last place team, they should improve next season (3rd to last in 20/21) with their 30th placed '21 class of recruits so better them than a school few have heard of

HFSEE I mentioned the 80s because that was when players were expected to stay 3/4yrs. I don't believe no one on the Hilltop expects to coach a jr yr Aminu.... the 2 seniors i was referring to are Tre King and DC. There are 4 teams in the BE that will be significantly more experienced: Nova, X, Butler and UCONN. Butler was terrible last year, UCONN lost Bouknight and X played below expectations. We all know that Nova is Nova so hopefully we get them later when the puppies are get there footing... We'll see.
