A good team in the nation’s 3rd biggest market would seem to help the Big East a lot, so feel like that could be a different case than most. What if we just kicked DePaul out and took Loyola Chicago? Outside of 1980s history & their place in our conference, what makes DePaul a better choice? Joking...mostly.

I would add Gonzaga and Loyola Chicago (with the stipulation that Porter Moser stays) and then trade DePaul to the ACC.

No, ACC. Depaul, for an option to bring Cuse back. Unfortunately DePaul doesn't have football...

Other than maybe the PAC 12 (we'll see after tomorrow), I don't think any conference is going to get to scream that they overperformed this year. Everyone has taken some hits already.

The BE is not inviting a program that plays in a high school gymnasium and prior to hiring Moser had not even been to the tournament since Patrick Ewing PLAYED for the Hoyas.
They are a nice story, but once Moser gets hired away, they’ll be George Mason.

Do I feel bad that Mac missed the front end of a 1 and 1 to tie and/or take the lead?
No. I do not.

The Big East took DePaul By the time DePaul entered the BE they far from their heyday, but not quite THAT far from it. Obviously it’s proven to be a bad fit. Not that the BE is actually gonna expel anyone, but if they did someone like Dayton would make a lot more sense. Huge fan base and recent success. As DePaul shows, simply having a team on a big market doesn’t mean you actually have real access in the market.

Tough to see both Nova and Cuse make the S16. At least UConn lost.

Both Oregon State and Ok State over 30 free throw attempts. Let the boys play, refs.

UConn made sense to include back. Not sure if we want to add every hot team. I agree. While Moser has done a nice job this year and in 2018, for much of the last 25 years, Loyola Chicago (much of that time coached by Moser) has been well below Big East level in basketball, and in many years, not even that good. The fact that they have had a couple of nice runs isn't a reason to expand the Big East. And, as soon as Moser leaves after this season, they'll likely go back to being a poorly performing program. The same thing happened with St. Louis when the Big East formed. They were on a nice streak at the time, but then went way downhill before rebounding a bit the last couple of years. In retrospect, adding St. Louis would have been silly, and I think adding Loyola Chicago would be even worse. The Big East needs to foster its tradition of basketball excellence. I realize that DePaul has been horrible for a while, but I think much of that can be chalked up to poor decision-making at DePaul (fpr example, wasting the last 6 years on Leitao, which was entirely predictable), rather than a structural problem. DePaul's odds of long-term success are better than Loyola Chicago's, even if Loyola Chicago is the better program now. Connecticut is not comparable to Loyola Chicago because they have a high-major basketball program, a long history of success, they are actually in the east, and they are synonymous with the Big East name. Adding them back was a no-brainer.
