With a only week of games left figured it’s not too early to start the conversation. At this point we still can finish anywhere from 5th to 10th, though 7, 8, or 9 is the most likely slot: www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/team/georgetown-hoyas/projectionsLooking at the teams around these spots there’s the following: SJ - vs PC, SHU PC - at SJ, Vs Nova Butler - at Creighton Marquette - at DePaul, vs Xavier So one of PC or SJ is at worst 1-1. Given PC has Nova left, they are the one more likely to go 0-2. Have to think Butler won’t win at Creighton and Marquette seems destined for 1-1 at worst. So what does that mean for us? The only way we are 10th if we lose both and Marquette wins both (and Butler holds on here). And getting to 5 means two wins and help from PC and SJ. So pretty much we are looking at playing one of those 4 above in the 7-10 or 8-9 game. In my mind the best scenario is we get to in 7-10 slot against Butler. Some may not realize Butler has not won a game at MSG ever. Also in this scenario we avoid Nova in Rd 2. Worst case in my opinion? St John’s falling to 8, and us getting 9. Still a lot to be decided but I think we should be rooting for SJ over PC regardless, plus if you think Butler is more desirable than Marquette, a Butler win today helped then too.

In my mind the most realistic scenario to get to 7 is one win and and a PC loss at SJ (assumes Nova wins the finale at PC).

The next BET game we win will be this staff's first, so looking ahead to a path for Friday is a bit premature.

Hate to see Uconn win and pass our shared record of 10 titles. Hate to see Nova win again. Hate to see St John’s win and beat us on a return to relevance. Pretty much can only stand Creighton winning if not us.

I see Nova and UConn in the top of our conference every year going forward. I would love for us to get to the top and stay there, but that’s easier said than done.

This time tomorrow we'll be in sole possession of 7th place in the conference. We can't finish any worse than 9th, and could still get to 5th.
If we lose vs. UConn: a BUT loss vs CREI & another loss by the SJU/PC loser means we'd still be in the 7th spot
Totally possible I'd say. Not only would the 7th spot keep us from Nova, but it'd probably give us MARQ in 1st round (which I think would be much better than BUT/PC/SJU)
If we win: Probably 6th, since Xavier has MARQ left. But if they lose (and the SJU/PC winner loses their last one) we'd be 5th.
Pretty incredible.

Two months ago, I didn't think it was going to bother me that I couldn't go to the Big East Tournament this year. Now...it's really starting to bother me.

Should Xavier lose and we beat UConn....then we have a pretty good chance of finishing 5th since SJU and Provy will likely split.

Haven't looked at the matchups but I'd love another day off just to let Dante's ankle rest. He's giving it his all out there even while clearly injured and still producing at a BE level, impressive for any Freshman.

I think they can come out with a chip to push back hard against UConn especially after this win against X which would be great even if we didn’t get 5th (which I am reserving my expectations for)

Best thing now is I believe it’s impossible for us to play St John’s again on a Wednesday!

Early in the season it seemed it was a foregone conclusion that the Hoyas would finished 10th or 11th in the conference. They were not playing well and it did not seem like there was any reason to be optimistic that they could turn it around. Finishing with a .500 record in conference should not be something that this program aspires to, but in this crazy season I think it would be an impressive accomplishment. I realize there is a chance they lose this weekend and depending what happens in other games they may still end up 8th or 9th, which is not great, but I have enjoyed watching the team progress this season.
I am not thinking the Hoyas should be favorites against UConn to beat them on the road but I do expect them to play them tough and be in the game with a chance to win in the last 5 minutes. The staff has done a good job game planning and preparing the team for games of late and having just played UConn I would expect that they will go into the game with a good game plan. It will just be a matter of them being able to execute that game plan against a more talented UConn team.

Short of winning the BET, is there any other path to making the field of 68 this year?
