Interesting cross-sport tie-in here, featuring Brian Wiese

My reaction after 1H: how the heck has UVA lost a game? They've completely stifled us on offense and are doing a fantastic job breaking down our defense.

Looks like for the first time in about 30 years it’s OK to play physical lacrosse again. They are at a different level today.
p.s. No matter how in vogue it is and how in love you are with it, if your surname is Shellenberger you do not name your kid Connor. Something in a nice “Karl” would fit.

Game over, season over. I'll try to remember the third consecutive Big East tournament title and beating the tar out of Syracuse for the first NCAA win in 14 seasons, rather than the way it ended.

Shades of the basketball game at Colorado--it ended far faster and far harder than we had hoped. And GU was roundly favored in most lacrosse coverage this week.
Georgetown remains the men's lacrosse program that can't get a ticket to the concierge level of the sport: 1-9 all-time in quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, in the "the more things change, the more they remain the same" category, Georgetown baseball ends its season today, currently at 6-24. It's the 35th consecutive losing season since 1986. Think about that for a moment--it defies logic or even bad luck.
On edit: Season concludes with an 11-3 loss to Butler; final record: 6-25 (6-19 Big East).

I’d like to express my admiration for the selfless and gutsy performance by James Reilly. After being hurt after the opening face off and being down for several minutes, he went back out there. It was not noticed by the announcers (because, I think, they weren’t there) but he, almost immediately, collapsed in a non-contact situation. Great career for the Hoyas. He can play for me any time.

Fantastic season. It’s just damn hard to get to the semis. We seem to be on the cusp though.

The LaxPower thread on the game, meanwhile, has devolved into a Zapruder-film style analysis of whether the UVA player kneed Reilly in the neck and/or side, complete with 'wisp of smoke on the grassy knoll' stills: I've definitely never seen another Georgetown event in any sport where the tenor and narrative of the game completely changed in the first 21 seconds. Seems unlikely that the Hoyas wouldn't beaten UVA regardless, but FOGO is such a critical position in modern lacrosse, and the disparity in UVA's favor was enormous.

Great season. Disappointing end. Hoyas picked the wrong day to have an off game. Obviously, a good part of that is the result of how well UVa played. They are a very good team, although not THAT good.

Dirty play. Dirty player (though it wasn’t what caused the injury). Aitken’s hit on Smith, on the other hand, was clean, old school lacrosse.

They would have done better to let Scanlan sue them.

They would have done better to let Scanlan sue them. Especially if he does so while wearing a t-shirt that says "GOON" like they used as the image accompanying that article.
