The Archbishop Spalding High School forward is ranked 48th on the 2022 ESPN 100 and has trimmed his list to about ten schools. Whitmore has a few high-profile institutions on his mind.
“I’m focusing on Louisville, UNC, Maryland, Georgetown, Notre Dame, Illinois,” Whitmore said. “That’s the main six.”
Whitmore also mentioned that Florida is in the mix.

Easily one of the hottest prospects in the class of 2022, Cam Whitmore rose from all the way outside the top 100 to near five-star status in our most recent update to the rankings for his class. A 6-foot-6 powerhouse of an athlete with a relentless competitive spirit, Whitmore is officially down to a final 10 of Florida, Georgetown, Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State and Villanova. During June he was able to see Georgetown, Maryland, Penn State and Villanova. At a minimum Illinois, Miami and North Carolina should be getting official visits from him after the summer ends. When Whitmore first started to see his stock soar in June, the assumption across the recruiting world was that Whitmore would be right in Jay Wright's wheelhouse and that Nova would be tough to beat. I'd never want to rule them out here but opinions about just how deep they are varied when discussing his recruitment with sources at the Peach Jam. Some thought that UNC could be the team to beat while others thought the schools closest to home, Maryland and Georgetown, held the clear advantage. The one thing that everybody I have spoken with can agree upon is that Whitmore and his family are pretty straightforward people and that his recruitment is one without many outside or complicating influences. My assessment is that it is just to early to declare a leader. I wish I had more, but there just hasn't been much intel leaking about where Whitmore could end up. 247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Ask-EBoss-Peach-Jam-Edition-167964697/#167964697_2

Any players that seem poised to get 5 star status after Peach Jam performances? This is no guarantee that these guys end up ranked as five-stars, but there were certainly some dudes who put themselves in the discussion. I've already answered a question about Cam Whitmore and he's certainly in the mix. Kyle Filipowski of the New York Rens has been putting his best foot forward, seven-footer Vince Iwuchukwu is making a strong case. From 2023, Mookie Cook and Mackenzie Mgbako immediately stand out. So, let's take a look at where each stands and where each could be during post summer updates. As for Whitmore, his jump shot worries me a little but man everything else about him is awesome. He competes on both ends, he plays with a ferocity and intensity that is hard to find on the high school level and he's a monster athlete who legitimately intimidates guys with what he does physically. 247sports.com/LongFormArticle/Ask-EBoss-Peach-Jam-Edition-167964697/#167964697_8

Dear Lord. Hope he is not advising him on work ethic, defense or sharing the ball…

^This^ Hopefully it's just scoring the ball. Melo was king when it came to getting a bucket.
