Agree on Ward. He looks really dynamic.

Whitmore would be disappointing not to get, but I think we're in a better state with Jaylen Martin (who plays the same position, correct me if I'm wrong), and he's spoken very highly of Georgetown and Ewing in his interviews. We got the ever-so-truShut upl 100% fan future cast for Jaylen on rivals.com --- if that's worth anything!

Thank you. We were never going to get both because they pretty much play at the same spot. Don't know which will end up being the best but Ward seems to be the more highly regarded at this point and he has been the one saying the most favorable things about the Hoyas the past year. I would have been more concerned if he had suddenly become a strong Terp lean.

Cam Whitmore is currently ranked the No. 98 prospect in the 2022 Rivals150, this makes the Severn (Md,) Archbishop Spalding small forward the No. 27 prospect nationally at his position, in his class.

“I am a fast-paced kind of player, I like to attack the basket, that is my first priority. I like to play defense too. I really like to win.” Whitmore said, “I have been trying to go to the gym this offseason, working on my jump shot, working on my combo moves and getting into my jump shot off the dribble really.”

Playing with Team Melo on the EYBL Circuit this summer, the high-flying Whitmore is approaching 18 offers, with several of those programs sticking out to him.

“I am hearing from Maryland, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and Florida the most right now.”

Georgetown: “They got height over there, so I think I can fit in at Georgetown by moving the ball around the perimeter, getting their guys open and playing tough defense.”

Cam is a top 50 kid when it's all said and done. I think if he was deciding today it would be Maryland but I don't think he's a lock to go there. Maryland also gets in early on a lot of local kids early and then back off. So even if we feel like we aren't at the top of his list now we should keep pursuing.

Whitmore can get up on the rim in an instant, this is something we all know as he has displayed it throughout his high school career. Standing 6-foot-6, Whitmore was an intimidating presence this weekend. He successfully defended positions two through four, he rebounded the ball and he straight line drove, through contact, to finish at the rim. Whitmore is looking to set visits with Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

I like what I have seen of Whitmore in the highlights on this site, but I guess you can't "prioritize" every recruit. It seems like either he lost interest in the program, or the program lost some interest in him. The recruiting pitch that the staff gives to players seems to resonate with some guys, and not so much with others and unfortunately it sounds like it has not clicked with Whitmore. That is sad because he is a local kid but your not going to get every recruit you pursue, even if they are local.
