Tyrell Ward > Collin Holloway This did not age so well I thought it sucked fresh frankly

There’s still a chance for the Hoyas to bring Collin back from what I’ve heard, and the press release certainly hints at that. With Ward out of the picture the staff needs to retain him if possible. A starting lineup of Dante, Heath, Murray, Holloway and a transfer center would legitimately be a top half of the conference starting group (pending the transfer center). Depth would be a question mark at forward but should be some guys in the portal you can take flyers on for that.

I don’t think we promised anyone a starting role, I don’t believe the staff is typically willing to promise that. I bet they promised the opportunity to compete with Dante for starting minutes and he likes his chances. As it stands I also like Dante’s chances of winning that competition.

Carey and Aminu were statistically better than anyone in that starting 5.

If Holloway returns and starts, that means we failed to attract any impactful frontcourt players.

Nothing to sneeze at He could be the player who improved most under Ewing, he plays a position of need with little or no depth behind him and he is leaving. Not a good look for the program.

If you check his high school videos, Collin played then exactly like he played this year. Pat’s offensive scheme, the “my turn” pro offense, allowed Collin to play like he did in high school, where he was carrying his team. There was no extra development to his game. He didn’t play his freshman year (4.4 mpg) because the alternatives in his position were the best players (Pickett and Bile) on the team and Pat has shown that he runs his best players to the ground even in blowout double-digit losses. Instead of doing a Sibley, he stuck around one more year.

Granted he was no all star but Holloway was a valuable player who, on the right team and in the right program, could have developed into a solid small forward over the next two years. I really liked that he wasn't afraid to go to the hoop and score. He was also developing a decent 3 point shot. If I recall he scored over 20 against Nova and had some big buckets in our other BE games. Him leaving, and I don't think he's returning, says a lot about the mess we call our bball program. He hasn't been recruited over and his numbers last year would have him getting plenty of pt next year. Of all the transfers this year his is the only one that screams "I'm outta here!" Really curious to see where he winds up and how he progresses over the next few years at his new school.

Villanova was actually one of the less athletic teams, so that fit his pace and he did well offensively with his crafty moves.

That starting lineup 1-4 is pretty close to the level of this year. We would win games but top half is a stretch.

Like I said I wouldn't expect him to be All Big East but he would be a valuable part of a deeper, more solid team. Remember he has only played one year. In the old days (a la Villanova) in two more years he would have been a team leader. Speaking of which, who will be the team leader next year? Harris? Another glaring weakness of the Ewing-era Hoyas.

He had good games against them.

While Georgetown really struggled to keep contact with the bigger, deeper and most athletic teams, Collin scored in double digits home and away against UConn and Marquette. Team largely got butts kicked by these squads, but Collin held his own.
