JH (28) / JB (30) / CB (22) / JP (30) / QW (24) DH (12) / TJ (5) / KC (14) / JS (22) / TI (12) Robinson/Holloway/Wilson/**OPEN** OK. Let's do it again after Carey addition. J Harris (25) / Blair (30) / Bile (20) / Pickett (30) / Wahab (24) Carey (22) / D Harris (8) / Clark (10) / Sibley (18) / Tim I (12) Berger/Robinson/Holloway/Wilson Lineup definitely seems to have less question marks now. Think you can already see the core 8 guys (10 above - D Harris, Clark). 1 guard, 1 forward, and 1 center off the bench in tighter games. Carey add also helps people hoping we'll get up more 3PFGA. D Harris might've been our 1st option there off the bench, but it'd be tough to lean on a FR for regular contributions.

Would rather see Carey start than Bile, but who knows depends on what Ewing wants specifically. I bet Carey is in the 23-25 min range

I bet Carey is in the 23-25 min range I thought about that too, but this ends up being a better balance. If we started 3 guards, we'd be stuck always going bigger w/ that first sub or D Harris. Bile's still the biggest question for me in the starting lineup, and I wouldn't be surprised if Carey or Sibley moved into the first 5. But I'm flying as blind as everybody else on these things, so...

J Harris / Blair / Carey / Pickett / Wahab Starting Five
Bile / Sibley / Tim I Rotation
D Harris / Clark Situational
Berger/Robinson/Holloway/Wilson Fighting for scraps
After the starting the game, I see a lot of two guard lineups w/Bile. Two of Harris, Blair & Carey will be on the floor at all times

He is a senior who knows the system best. It may not be 30 mpg, but he will get his minutes

I agree that Blair and Pickett are essential to success, but I like that Pat can now take out Blair and/or Pickett if they are not playing at 100% or Blair is shooting like hot potato because we have a lot of depth in all positions.
I'm going to go with a starting five of Blair, Pickett and Wahab, with Bile and the winner of Harris and Carey. I'm not sure who is first off the bench between: Sibley for Bile or Pickett; Harris or Carey; or Tim, depending on Wahab's foul situation. With Beard gone a year (hopefully), Carey can share some PG duty with Harris, with the freshmen helping as needed, or play the Jagan utility role, but with better 3FGA numbers.
With Carey turning 21 in August, the team is balanced in experience, age and class year. Also, we have plenty of height to zone and the athletes to press.
Will they have time to practice and bond on the court? If the team comes together and the freshmen show up ready to go, then we will not be pushovers and will surprise. I just got more excited for the season. Will there be one? Hope springs eternal...

What's our best defensive lineup? Pickett and Qudus are in, and Carey is in there for Blair. Who else?

Hard to say given all the new faces and guys moving up from LM/MM schools, but I would estimate that our best defensive group would be J Harris, Carey, Pickett, Bile, Wahab. Definitely should be able to play some zone with the pieces we have.. Defensive improvement is a must this year.

All I know is that with Carey and Harris in the backcourt.....we suddenly have size in a position where we haven’t for a long, long time.

Blair is 6'5" as well. Tall guards are helpful.

Also, with Carey and Blair, we can have at least two guards- at the same time sometimes- who are willing and able to chuck it from deep. That number will increase if some of the freshman contribute as hoped.
If we can play any defense, and the young bigs develop, we may not be nearly as bad as many have feared.
