Obviously this is all up in the air at the moment since we are still waiting on Mac's decision and potential roster additions in the transfer market and elsewhere. But I would like to see what you all would want next year's rotation wise based on the roster today.
My best guess at what we'll do if Mac does not return...
Starters Jalen Harris (25 mins), Jahvon Blair (30 mins), Jamorko Pickett (30 mins), Chudier Bile (25 mins), Qudus Wahab (25 mins)
Bench Jamari Sibley (25 mins), Tyler Beard (20 mins), Timothy Igohoefe (15 mins). Spot minutes for Dante, Malcolm and Kobe when available.
If Mac does return (I'm assuming Mac wants heavy minutes at point if he comes back)...
Starters Mac McClung (30 mins), Jahvon Blair (25 mins), Jamorko Pickett (30 mins), Chudier Bile (20 mins), Qudus Wahab (25 mins)
Bench Jalen Harris (20 mins), Jamari Sibley (20 mins), Tyler Beard (15 mins), Timothy Igohoefe (15 mins).

As of today, I also think those are the two starting lineups. Where I disagree is that I think Kobe will surprise and earn playing time. As I've said before, I think two of our freshmen will make the BE Rookie Team. Also, there might be a role for Dante if he shows a 40% from 3 and Blair is in one of his dry spells. BTW, what to do about Malcolm? Is he willing to sit for another year? I don't think so. Maybe we see several minutes a game (depending on the opposition) of a lineup with two of Malcolm, Tim and Qudus.

I'm struggling to get comfortable with how much time we'd expect Mac and Blair to share the court.
I know Mac says he considers himself a "scoring PG" but are we sure that a backcourt of Mac and Blair will work? On offense that's asking for a huge change from Mac in a non-standard offseason where he's recovering from injury. I do think roles of "PG" are a little overrated but someone still has to walk the ball up, call plays, and get us into sets. Maybe Mac can do that but then we'd also be asking him to create offense for himself and others (and defend other PGs). It's just a lot.
I could see a 3-guard lineup w Harris / Mac / Blair being fine on offense, but that's not going to work on defense in the Big East asking Blair to check 3s. And really any lineup with Mac and Blair will probably struggle on the defensive end, which continues to be the real limitation for this team.
Mac and Blair are definitely 2 of our 4 best players, but I'm just not sure how they really work together. I think it would also be wise to make sure one of them is on the court at all times to help keep perimeter offense afloat. So maybe that leads to more of a split. Will Blair be ok w a role reduction if that's what happens as a sr who helped keep us competitive last year? He was such a different player when he had locked in minutes.
Only time will tell but I think there's more questions than answers at this point, which is fine because its April but it's what I'm most curious about at this point.

Georgetown has a history of forcing SGs to play PG. See Clark, Campbell, DSR, etc. Mac at PG would not be ideal. He’s a scorer, not a distributor. Plus, he will get winded bringing the ball up under any pressure.

He may play some minutes there in some lineup combinations, but being full time PG is not the best use of his skills. I also think Jalen Harris most likely starts the year at PG for them. They brought him in to be a steady hand at PG and reduce turnovers until some of the younger guys can prove they are ready to take a more prominent ball handling role. I see them likely going with a 3 guard lineup often with Jalen Harris, Mac and Blair. If Blair is comfortable coming off the bench as an "instant offense" they of option then they may move Pickett to small forward and add Bile to the starting lineup, especially against some of the bigger teams.

I agree with Boston. Plus, the DSR days may have traumatized me but asking Mac to guard the other teams pg is what worries me. I think Harris should get a lot of minutes next year whether or not Mac returns.

This is pretty much exactly what I would have predicted. And I agree that if Mac comes back I think he's going to want to play point guard. While I know that makes many of us feel uneasy, proving that he can run a team is really his only path to the NBA. I suspect he has known this for a long time and it may have been one reason for the friction between he and James. NBA scouts are just going to reconfirm this for him over the next few months. Hopefully it will work out for all. I'd rather have him as our point guard for 20 minutes a game than not have him on the team. The only thing I'd add to your prediction is that I think there will be a couple of pretty clear competitions for playing time in the pre-season between Dante Harris and Beard and between Ighoefe and Wilson. While I can understand why you penciled in Beard and Tim for now, Dante and Wilson are big enough mysteries at this point that I'd categorize both of those battles as toss-ups for now. There could be a potential battle for forward minutes between Bile, Sibley and Clark as well. The losers of those battles will likely be outside of the regular rotation for this year other than extenuating circumstances (blow outs, injuries, foul trouble, etc.)... I'm hoping we'll land on a clear 8 to 9 man rotation for most games, with everyone buying in and embracing their roles.

As I've said elsewhere, we should all be prepared that we are going 10-11 deep in OOC. Pat has shown in the past that he makes an effort to get everyone PT and will tinker with line-ups. Plus it keeps the core rotation fresher for the BE run.
Give time for Harris, Beard, and Harris to show out on the court. Get Malcom some game PT in case of injury later in the year. Let Sibley and Kobe get extended run to be ready for high pressure PT in the BE.
That said, I like your rosters and if all goes well, I see us cutting back to those 9 by January.

I would add Robinson, who looked comfortable when Pat had to play him. Using this year as an example of why a deep rotation does not work is wrong. This year’s early-season experiment did not work because Akinjo was not playing team ball and team chemistry was out the door. This past season should be used as an example of how a small rotation leaves players with nothing in the tank by tournament time.

This past season should be used as an example of how a small rotation leaves players with nothing in the tank by tournament time. I don't fully disagree on the rotation size, but I will play a little devils advocate. I agree we basically have to throw out last year in terms of arguing size of rotation...but we can't forget that we had some issues with lineup construction in 2019 as well playing 10 deep. Not sure about you but I can't forget that we'd have scoring droughts of 3-4 minutes trotting out a lineup of Mosely, Blair, Malinowski, Kaleb, and Mourning. Malinowski felt moth-balled a little until the Mac injury, LeBlanc didnt play more until Mourning got hurt. It's not just playing 10 deep, it's that Ewing does seem to particularly like to keep it to 2 separate units. I'd argue that in the beginning of last year, despite playing 11 guys, it didn't feel like enough tinkering of the lineups themselves (maybe that would've come idk). Mosely played w Pickett, Leblanc played w Alexander (maybe Ewing was trying to keep the players that got along together in groups). We didn't have enough mixing there. Same w the guards. Akinjo and Mac were together a ton, we didn't really see Allen and Mac together a lot in those first 7 games. I realize Ewing wants to press and run (even w 6 guys he stuck to it last year) so 10 deep makes sense, but balancing the lineups isn't easy. Even when we were playing 7 guys, we'd have stretches were Mac and Yurt7 were both on the bench, which is borderline impossible. We need to find pairings and lineups that play well off each other and keep us balanced for all 40 minutes. That is a very open question that Ewing hopefully addresses this year.

Only time will tell but I think there's more questions than answers at this point, which is fine because its April but it's what I'm most curious about at this point. I've said for years that the problem with Mac and Blair is they are essentially the same player. I imagine if things didn't break the way they did last year Blair probably transfers this summer. He was the odd man out. You only need so many volume scoring, average at best shooting, bad defensive guards that are better served as a spark plug type role. While they are both good passers, especially Blair, they are not willing passers. They don't score in the same fashion but the end result is often the same. If they are hot you can ride them to victory. If they are cold they are going to kill you. This idea that we can play them together especially if that means Blair at the 3 is just asking for disaster. A line up of Harris, Mac, Blair would likely lead to our worst defense yet and as we all know that is saying something. As for what I think will happen we see J. Harris, Mac, Bile, Pickett and Q starting. Blair and Beard all the backup guard minutes. Sibley getting most of the backup 3/4 minutes. Tim I getting most of the backup C minutes. The winner of Kobe and Wilson getting some foul trouble caused minutes or hopefully getting garbage time because we are winning by so much. D Harris redshirting. I think Bile will end up getting more minutes than he deserves at the detriment of the freshman. I am hoping that he is replaced in the starting lineup at some point sooner than later.

Starters J Harris/Blair/Bile/Pickett/Wahab Bile & Pickett are essentially both 3.5s, but should be fine together if Bile can play a little defense. Pickett's time is now on O -- if he's not our most dynamic scorer, we're gonna struggle on that end in a big way. Blair might score a bit more overall, but JP's gotta be right there, scoring inside & on the perimeter. Wahab... just keep doing what he showed this year, and add consistency & tough D. Harris... hopefully he plays well enough to remain the starter all year & can provide some offense. Keep that spot warm for Frankie w/o forcing the kids to play there more than they need to.
Rotation Guys Beard/D Harris/Clark/Sibley/Igohoefe Beard is the 3rd guard and should see heavy mins. Just guessing Harris will be a better scorer overall than Berger and that'll land him the 4th guard mins (~10mpg?). Sibley will be able to play with Bile or Pickett and that will help him see the court often. I'm guessing it's not long before he's playing more minutes than Bile, even if he's not starting. Clark's versatility at the wing might be his key to regular backup minutes. He'll need to defend tough wings, add some length at the 2 when necessary... and maybe more important than that, show he's not outmatched on the offensive end. My guess is he gets squeezed in closer games, though. Igohoefe gets Wahab backup minutes -- which could frequently be substantial w/ a young aggressive big as the starter.
Deep Bench Wilson/Berger Wilson's really only an injury or foul trouble away from seeing decent time, but on a regular night I still think he's 3rd in line and not in the short rotation. (And no... he's not playing PF.) Berger & D Harris will fight for those 4th guard minutes. The main reason TJ's here and not Harris is I think we'll need DH's offense (from what I've seen of it, anyway.) But in the early part of the year, Pat's gonna have to play them both to figure it all out.
JH - 24 JB - 30 CB - 22 JP - 30 QW - 24
TB - 20 DH - 9 KC - 8 JS - 21 TI - 12
When the bench starts getting shortened in big games, D Harris & Clark's minutes will go elsewhere. Beard, Sibley, and Igohoefe will be 6/7/8.

Lineup guesses are notoriously scattershot given the unfamiliarity of this lineup but three names jump to the top of the list:
1. Jamorko Pickett shoots at a career mark of .375--he's just ahead of Reggie Cameron in that metric. But Pickett shoots not much better from two point range (.388), so if defenses play him tight on the three, Ewing must adapt to get him going inside.
2. After three seasons, Jahvon Blair (.348) is shooting at the rate of Tre Campbell (.345). Blair had a nice run late in the season but it was by necessity, not design. This is why Jalen Harris has to be a scorer from the outset.
3. The growth of Qudus Wahab is vital for this team just to hang in there. A 5/5/2.5 stat line puts him alongside a Theo John (Marquette), but without more touches he won't be close to where Yurtseven or even Govan was offensively.
I don't think people give enough credit for the 2019-20 team holding together in early December and winning three games it probably shouldn't have--without it, this could have been a 12-20 finish. The Oklahoma State win was probably Georgetown's best team effort of the season; unfortunately 76 of the 81 points scored from that game aren't back in 2020-21. And that exciting game versus Syracuse? Of the 89 points, 75 were lost to graduation and attrition. There is a much tougher schedule ahead early in 2020-21 (two at the Anaheim Classic, Big Ten opponent TBD, West Virginia, Syracuse, and two early Big East games) and the experience must be gained early.

Tough to pencil Q in for those numbers. He was only breaking double digit minutes about every other game until Omer went down. His stats for the 7 games he started down the stretch: 24.3 m, 8.9 p, 6.6 r, 26-39 FG% (66.6%) He doesn't have to be Omer or Jessie for us to be successful. He just needs to play efficiently on that end -- make a high percentage of his shots, work hard on the O-boards, and don't turn the ball over much. If Qudus doesn't demand (or just plain get from Patrick) the same volume of touches on the offensive end, that'll surely make it easier for us to get up more threes, which is a big concern. I don't know who'll take them, but... He needs to grow up fast, sure... but if he can keep those numbers close to 10 & 8 for the year (and have an occasional 16/10 game), that's one less thing we have to worry about on a team full of question marks. I'm penciling him in for that. Maybe that's optimistic, but he was very impressive last year. It's just a damn shame he (our best FR) was a C, when he could've found a lot more time at any other position on the floor.

I'm very curious to see how the backup guard minutes play out. - Can Beard be the backup PG or is he more suited to be an off-guard at this point? Long term I think he'll have the handles but not sure if that's Day 1 - Can D. Harris and Beard be backcourt together? It just feels like too small a backcourt for Big East play and even smaller than the Akinjo / Mac combo
It might open up a chance for Berger to actually get more minutes than D. Harris given his size and both will provide value as floor spacers hopefully.
