April is usually one of my favorite months of the year... and this one is going to suck big time.

Grim prognosis. In the United States, White House coronavirus task force member Anthony S. Fauci said the United States could record 100,000 to 200,000 deaths and millions of infections, according to current but rapidly evolving projections. This is pretty much what I and others in my profession have been trying to tell people for over month and getting ridiculed in some quarters as alarmists. And now Trump is saying if the death toll is 100,000 we will have done a very good job - after 2 months of calling it a hoax, a Dem political hit job, and ignoring the USIC warning. If this country re-elects him, we can kiss our country goodbye. Stay healthy!

Trump is, and always will be, a salesman. He keeps modifying the pitch until he lands on something he thinks is a winner. The only encouraging thing about the last couple of days is that he seems to finally be listening to reason. Hope it lasts.

The man is shameless...
I can't believe he's accusing these folks who are putting their lives on the line everyday to fight this thing of running some type of mask racket on the side. Just get these people the stuff they need. You're he freaking President for christ's sake.

My aunt, who's in a nursing home, tested positive 2 days ago. And it's not in a population-dense area. She's exactly the kind of person that possibly could have avoided this if we had a president that had acted when he should have. Instead, her life hangs in the balance. For the pro-lifers, please explain how my aunt's life is worth less than that of a yet to be viable fetus. Not that it matters but my aunt has dedicated her life to work through her church in helping those most in need. I get that that doesn't stack up to a fetus 4 weeks along but she's done some exceptional things and has raised some really good kids (while also losing 3 during child birth and losing one to suicide at 24). She made the difficult decision to lose her leg below the knee about 6 months ago and had been doing really well. She was even getting close to being able to go home as long as enough of us were able to pitch in for home care and personal visits. She's tough as nails and I'd never bet against her. And I'm not looking for any sympathy because I'm not the one that needs any. I'm only saying that she's one of thousands in a very similar boat. Hospitals being overwhelmed doesn't just affect those that test positive. It affects scores of others. I very much hope this very large bullet that should have been much, much smaller misses all of you and all of those that you love and care for. I wish it missed my aunt.

My fear/anger got the better of me and I wish I had taken a bit of time before sharing my family's experience. The conflation of two entirely different issues isn't productive and attacking other posters (even in a general sense) isn't something I'm proud of having done. Sorry to all.

Tas, so sorry to hear about your aunt. Sounds like a wonderful woman. Prayers for her. My wife's mother (age 96) is in a nursing home in Ontario, Canada, and they have banned all people except the workers from entering. It is hard on my wife's sister, who used to visit her every day. Now, fortunately, her room has a window, and my sister-in-law stands outside the window and talks to her mom on the phone. This is what life is in this very trying time.

Wishing the best for TAS's aunt. My siblings and I have been trying to work out care fir my 90-year old mom who still lives in the family home by herself. We are doing our best to minimize contact with her but it is difficilt.

There is a certain 14 year old I know who knows well the power of prayer and has added Tas’ aunt to his prayers.
Stay safe and well Hoyas.

Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes. I'll be sure to pass them along to my aunt. I know she'll be exceedingly grateful.
Nevada, I can empathize with the difficulty of isolation. My aunt is in the same boat. Good on your sister-in-law. She sounds like a good egg. Here's to hoping that your mother-in-law remains healthy and safe.
SS, first I want to say that your mom must be some kind of badass to be still living on her own at 90 in your family home. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to not have that contact with her, especially at this time. I wish her good health and strength to get through this safe and sound. It sounds like you and your siblings are doing all that you can.
Elvado, please thank Harry for me. If there's a more pious woman than my aunt, I'm not aware of her. She will be incredibly touched that a young man that she doesn't even know is praying for her and, while I'm not at all religious, I certainly do appreciate the effort on her behalf more than I could adequately express.
Best wishes for good health to all and to those for whom you love and care. As Elvado said, stay safe and well Hoyas.
