Why hasnโt it taken this long for folks to notice him? What was his level of play a few months ago, last summer or last season?

Playing with Justin Lewis im sure he brought in lot of coaches to Poly watch him not sure why he went unnoticed. He played with Team MELO on the circuit with good stats. Underrated baller

Gotcha. This kid seems legit and could be a major contributor. Figured he should have been noticed by now. Question is will be get noticed to the point where the bigger fish come calling? Will he wait and see what shakes out over the next few months or pull a Beard and commit once he gets a decent offer? Hopefully staff have extended and we can get him in for an OV.

It happens a fair amount that the #2 player on a dynamite high school is undervalued by the college recruiters. All the eyeballs are on the #1 guy who may have the height and athleticism. That dude gets all the looks and shots and accolades and can wow with the crowd.
But that #2 guy, especially if he's a PG, can be really effective at the next level.

I think they need to get to his school or home this week, can't wait around to schedule a campus visit... Gotta build a relationship first & foremost, the staff has the week off so now is as good a time as any...

Old timers like myself will immediately relate this situation to Sleepy Floyd, who was NOT the guard Coach Thompson went to see in North Carolina , but a highly touted teammate who never amounted to anything (think maybe Jon Robinson?). In any event, Pops left totally impressed with Sleepy and the rest is Hoya history.

The story I always heard was about Sleepy's crosstown rival who drew all the attention and committed to UNC... James Worthy

Very polished player, his jump shot is like that...
He has some holes in his game like most kids in HS but you can tell he knows how to play...

James Worthy The story I have known is that, after signing James Worthy, Dean Smith was out of scholarships and called Thompson to encourage him to take a look at Sleepy, who was lighting up small town ball in nearby Gastonia, NC.

Nice words from the coach about the kid starting @ the 1:15 mark...
Wonder who the P5 coach who watched a kid hit 17 shots in a row, many from 3 but worries whether he can get his shot against taller players? smh...
