1. The PGs have been the only non athletic shooters. They have also been tiny. The have also been scorers before passers which is fine. That said I still can't believe we asked our best shooter to create and pass to non shooters and wondered why it didn't work. 2. You just wanted to get me riled up about Harris again didn't you 3. This is false. There are plenty. I will agree that in the range we are winning in you have to choose athleticism or shooter. Pat has clearly made his choice. 4. see #1 5. Sure you can teach anyone to do anything but shooters shoot and dunkers dunk. As you know its a mindset. The more athletic usually have more dog than the skill guys, so that is probably right. The problem is the guys we are left with are the more bark than bite. The bite has left the building. Our top two target this year where RJ Davis and Terrance Williams dude. Neither one are dunking on anybody. I think there's a bit of recency bias going on here, and I'm guilty of it myself. I don't deny that Pat clearly considers shooting important. Davis, Williams, Harris, and Kerwin Walton are all examples of guys we were or are in on whose athleticism is secondary to their shooting capability. It's just recently we've seen the staff double down on guys like Beard, Jermontae Hill, MAM, and Kobe Clark, each of whom do not appear to have a consistent shot in their arsenal (juries still out on Beard on that though). I don't deny Ewing considers three point shooting important, it would just be encouraging to see us seriously in on some 3 and D wings rather than just athletic slashers. Walton may be that guy, but i'm uncertain how seriously we are recruiting him.

Only 2 are playing at a HM school, Landers Nolley, and Spencer Jones at Stanford. I don't think you read #1. RJ = JA tiny non athletic PG but yes a shooter. Nah'shon and Robbie are shooting it pretty well. They were local enough and there for the taking just to name a few but neither got an offer I don't think. The point wasn't this class or freshman by the way it was just the team make up and the guys we seem to be getting. I am not sure it would really matter though as we had 2 lights out guys last year and one didn't get near enough time and the other was encouraged to go hang out on the block. We seem to be going down the Depaul philosophy path and I would like to go more on the Nova path. That is more where the frustration lies. As for this thread I would love if we made a hard push for Murray. I guess we will see what happens.

Of course there is going to be some contact out there with some guys that can shoot but it seems like the priority has been placed on the athletes. As you mention that's where we seem to push the hardest. Maybe its just all bad luck and it's just small sample size of that's just who we are landing. I mentioned in the post I just did we had two guys last year that fell into the great shooter limited athletes mold and Pat did not use them effectively. Even this year after seeing what we have seen I think most modern coaches would have Yurt7 playing face up further away from the basket. We have all seen he is a very good shooter. maybe his range isn't out to 3 but I think if it was a focus it certainly could be. We can tell what the philosophy is and that is more where my frustration lies.

Anybody that has watched him play since HS knows he's a good shooter. I think he more than showed what he could do last year when he was still trying.

As for this thread I would love if we made a hard push for Murray. I guess we will see what happens. I was responding to you saying there's a bunch of great shooters at the HS level. There's really not imo. Usually you're looking at shot mechanics and if they have a stroke that can be easily repeated. If the answer is yes to both you figure they can develop into great shooters, but most don't come out the gate firing at a high level. Tbh I can't think of another HM Center that took as many 3's as Jessie did last year, and Hyland said last spring Georgetown was one of the teams recruiting him the hardest. Personally don't understand how you can say Pat doesn't like shooters when the top two kids on the board this year were skilled players who weren't very athletic. Agree with your comment about Murray.

If Ewing stays for next game, should get a chance to see Murray live.

If Pat was at the IMG game which it is reported he was and Brandon doesn’t have an offer tomorrow then I have no idea what he’s looking for.
