Well from a basketball perspective this is a disaster. But until anyone knows anything it seems ridiculous to assign blame to the coach or the players. Just deal with it and prepare for a season that was going well off the rails. Hoya fans are so desperate to be relevant again that the reaction is guaranteed to be an overreaction. McClung takes the point with Allen, Mosley and Blair. LeBlanc is replaced by Gardner and Alexander. Going to be a long season and suddenly we have plenty of scholarships open for next year. It’s a shame and there are reasons to question this coaching staff but until more is known this news should not be one of those reasons. Another major challenge for this program to overcome. Why would we give this coaching staff the benefit of the doubt that they can use those scholarships and rebuild the program. Next.

Whatever the problem was until this point, both Akinjo and Leblanc were playing minutes.
I'm having trouble seeing this as anything other than a cover-your-ass statement to put the blame on Akinjo and Leblanc after they went onto the transfer portal, because from all appearances, the coaching staff was trying to ride out whatever the problem was.

Maybe. But it's just as likely the situation simply worsened

It apparently has happened. It's up to Ewing and the staff to try to make the remaining parts work. Knowing how Georgetown usually handles thses situations we will probably never the how or why. Pat, the challenge is yours.

This is terrible but want to know a common theme among bottom dweller teams? Getting new coaches every few years. Let's finish out the season and see what we think of Pat then. Although it seems like a lot of people have their mind made up...

Silver lining is this team was brutal to watch in its first 7 games this season even with these 2 - at least if that continues it won’t be so frustrating now. And maybe the remaining group bands together and rights the ship? There’s still some talent here.

Any news of the players’ twitter feeds? Are they bashing program/coach?

So basically you're going with "The Patrick Ewing Theory" but for our two best players rather than just one player?

We will miss both greatly but Leblanc was underutilized this year for whatever reason. Akinjo is going to hurt.

I have many doubts about the coaches and they existed before today and did not change as a result of this news. I think Ewing still has much to prove, but unlike some I am still willing to give him a shot. Let’s see how the season plays out.

I'm generally willing to give any coach 4 years to prove themselves, because they deserve an opportunity to prove they can get their own players and win with them. That theory is kinda out the window though when your best kids are transferring.
Ewing unfortunately belongs on the hot seat if this season goes to . This program is way too expensive to be getting the results its had, year after year after year.

Whatever the cause, or blame, this is a disaster: Unfortunately, judging from past performances, we may never know what went down, via the staff, program, GU. Maybe they will surprise, because wherever the blame lies, honesty will sure get you some support from the fans.
I have my suspicions, but I will await news. I think that if we do not get clarification- whatever happened- this should be the end of the firm Thompson, Thompson and Ewing.

A lot of assumptions being made.
I'm sure the STAFF wanted these young men to NOT follow team rules and guidelines.
Those that immediately cry foul, just go back and check many of their previous posts and you exactly where they stand. Always waiting.
To solve a problem you first find out what is the problem.

The bond between James and Josh was likely the strongest on the team. As much as people wanted to include Mac in this bond it wasn't the case. It was further shown when James said "I got you" to Josh after the first win. Whatever happened with Josh happened and Pat has handled it terribly. If it was truly so bad that he decided he shouldn't play he should not have played him at all. Clearly it wasn't. Josh got sick of it and this is the fallout. Pat has mishandled pretty much every great player he has had so far. Sugar coat it or call it what you want but he has royally screwed this up so far.

Don't know what happened but if you do fill the rest of us in. Fill us in on what Josh did at the beginning and let us be our own judge. Stated coach handled it incorrectly

I must be the only one who has no idea what’s going on. Where are people getting additional info?
