Wow. This has probably been the most disturbing 3 weeks of optimism turned to dread in Hoya history. Well, outside of early exits from NCAA tourneys as high seeds.

Although I have heard the same rumor myself from a relative on campus, we're not going to post hearsay about students here.

Enough with Hoya Paranoia. Alums, fans, media deserve an explanation immediately. Straight from the horse's mouth.

Will not speculate on the reason, whether the players left before or whether they were kicked off the team. The bottom line is it's impossible for Ewing to turn this into a positive and keep the program on its trajectory. It feels like we wasted three years. That feels dramatic but this is that level of a blow to the program Exactly. Three years wasted and that doesn't even include the last two from JTIII. This program doesn't have another 2-3 years to wait. We're going to need a miracle worker to salvage this before the 4,000 faithful at Capital One turns into 400

Even still, the program and administration needs to address this immediately If in fact that’s what’s happening here, there’s no way they can do that publicly

This is not a major conference caliber program anymore, and it probably hasn’t been for quite some time. But this is the nail in the coffin. Program simply could not afford a setback like this at this point.

If rumors true Ewing may be doing his best to protect the players as best he can until the facts are known. Not fair to throw players or the coach under the bus at this point. Those calling for his job may find he did the right thing when the dust settles. We should all probably reserve judgment at this point.

So many rumors are coming out about them... Hopefully they are not true because this is a very bad look.

Very fair poor point mass and I admit I jumped to conclusions and put this on Ewing which may not be fair. That said and knowing no facts let's go w/the idea they have been asked to leave the program for something outside of basketball... That's 4 players in 3 years that have found themselves thrown off this team for actions off the court... That's an alarming trend as well. Not blaming Pat for others actions but it is his ship and he is the captain and this does not look good for the University...

I had a couple conversations w JT3 (one in Lawrence the day before the Kansas game and another at a Princeton event) where he talked about the importance to him of not recruiting “knuckleheads.” In fact there was plenty of discussion on the board about JT3 recruiting kids that were “too nice.” At some point Ewing has to take responsibility for something in his tenure (on court performance, off court conduct, etc) — he certainly doesn’t at any of his press conferences. Everyone grades him on a curve because his name is Patrick Ewing.

Boy, you really dislike Ewing. I get it - it’s not going well. But references to JT3 don’t really help your case. He sucked at his job too.

Well from a basketball perspective this is a disaster. But until anyone knows anything it seems ridiculous to assign blame to the coach or the players. Just deal with it and prepare for a season that was going well off the rails. Hoya fans are so desperate to be relevant again that the reaction is guaranteed to be an overreaction. McClung takes the point with Allen, Mosley and Blair. LeBlanc is replaced by Gardner and Alexander. Going to be a long season and suddenly we have plenty of scholarships open for next year. It’s a shame and there are reasons to question this coaching staff but until more is known this news should not be one of those reasons. Another major challenge for this program to overcome.

The fans need to know what happened. Now. Urgently. There are not many words that I can say on this website that describe the situation... so I'm going to say what needs to happen to succeed.
The best player on the team and the most energetic player have left in the face of the biggest 3 game span in the last 5 years. I just can't.
Pickett and Alexander need to play to their rankings. They need to be better and will be taking more shots. They need to play defense and get sed to each other, as they should play a lot more. If someone asked me who's playing the most additional minutes after this, I'd answer Galen Alexander. It's time to step it up and be that top 100 recruits. It's time to get some shots and make some aggressive plays. It's time to actually drive, both Jamorko and Galen. Terrell Allen needs to do something offensively. Provide something man. He's been a nothing on that side. He needs to facilitate or something. Get layups, play aggressive defense or something man. Blair needs to be more than just a shooter. Defense and shot creation are necessary. Gardner needs to step it up. He needs to play within himself and not force anything. Mosely needs to step it up. He started very well and recently has gone invisible again. That can't happen. And most importantly, Mac McClung. It's time to be that lead guard. It's time to be THAT guy. The Mac will have to show out. He needs to be the guy we have seen flashes of. He needs to be that guy. Mac needs to handle the ball more and make some plays for himself and others. We need a poster dunk, we need to see you still have it. We need to see that you can be the guy taking 20 shots per game. The first two and last are clearly the most important. Omer and Qudus have to rebound. Ewing can't just depend on Omer again. If that happens and he only feeds Omer, this season is toast. Run actual plays, get your talented players shots. Not just one of them. And let Allen be that top 5 defenders in the NCAA. Let him be that guy. Leave him on an island with the opponents' best guard every day and let him do whatever he needs defensively. The defense needs to revolve around him. He needs to step up.
What could go wrong, has gone wrong. Here. We. Go. Horrible timing.
