Why are so many people going off the assumption that Josh was kicked off the team? Nowhere has any of the information currently released made that claim. The only definitive statements made are that Josh and James are no longer on the team and they have entered the transfer portal. Are we completely ignoring the possibility that they decided to transfer on their own since they were unhappy with the way the season has progressed (I.e playing time, criticism of playing style, being called selfish, etc)? And now, because of that and the resulting announcement, someone went digging and the legal matters are coming to light? I’m not saying there’s no dots to be connected here, but it seems very possible that the dots require connection by rather curvy lines instead of straight ones. This has been my line of thinking as well. The transfer announcement was an unrelated act and resulted in people looking for a "why" which resulted in all of this awfulness coming to surface. My guess is GU was waiting for an investigation to finish before making final decisions, but now is getting pulled into a very messy and bad PR situation it was hoping to avoid. Still so unclear at this point what the hell is happening or happened, just have to wait it out. Precisely

Any update from someone that went to the gtown event in NYC with DiGioia??
Curious
I guess I’m happy to university put out another statement. It clarified things for me, for now. They weren’t going to do anything until the investigation / legal proceedings ran there (their?) course. And James and Josh hates the program so much they wanted to leave. I still put a lot of blame on the latter on Ewing. Unless there is more to come - he bears some of the blame for James and Josh hating it here.

Don't know what to make of this.
Seeing the initial statement of their departures and the way it was worded left one puzzled.
Then when everything hit the fan about the alleged incidents that transpired??!!
The released statements by the school are as vague as you can get.
What is Ewing's role (or non-role) in all of this?
Who is suiting up for tomorrow's game?
Just have to wait and see how things unfold I guess.
How will this effect recruiting? Top player leaves the program early after only one season and a few games. Another one also departs. Reports of alleged incidents. This doesn't paint the culture of the basketball program in a positive light right now.
The uncertainty of the program is at an all-time high in the Ewing era. That doesn't bode well for the future, unless somehow he rights the ship. With personnel deficiencies, it is going to be hard do without a significant jump in recruiting.

I don’t really understand all the sky-is-falling takes. Two kids wanted to leave the program on their own accord. That’s disheartening but count me among those that think our offense might actually improve without akinjo. He was quickly proving himself a selfish, me-first player.
As for the allegations/TROs is it really THAT outlandish for the school to allow the kids to play while the process plays itself out? No charges have been filed and I’m perfectly fine operating under the presumption that the university conducted its own investigation and decided that AT THIS TIME there wasn’t enough evidence to warrant a suspension. Is it such a heinous to stand behind your players if you truly don’t believe there’s enough evidence to warrant action?
Also have any of you considered how many times this could have happened in the past and it never made it to the public for whatever reason? Let’s not act like every single kid we’ve ever had before this season was a saint. Don’t be naive.
I’m a proud alum and will always be. One alleged incident involving a few of our players is not going to change that. Some of you need to step back from the ledge. This holier-than-thou, elitist attitude is not flattering.

The program is clearly in crisis right now.
I gather that the president, AD, and coach will not be speaking directly to the press about this?

Plenty of playing time for a buncha guys now! I actually believe we can still be pretty good this year and hopefully the ball doesn't stick as much.

I get the feeling there is more to come regarding LeBlanc and not necessarily bad either.

Another question is how does this effect Malcolm Wilson Tim Ighoefe? Does this speed up at least one of their clocks in terms of Coach Ewing's plan for them? Will Coach Ewing use two Bigs on the floor in certain situations? Player usages is going to be intriguing...

If Gardner is allowed to play, why not bring him out to 2 and Mac to 1? You can have Allen roving between the two. Why not bring out Q to play alongside Yurt and Pickett. We'd have a nice sized backcourt and a very imposing frontcourt. (Frontcourt 6'2, 6'3 and 6'6". Backcourt 6'10, 6'9 and 7. Why not give Malcolm and Tim some playing time? We have some big boys. It could be pretty intimidating.

This season is shaping up to be a real win for all the fans who were thinking, “Wasn’t it great when we abruptly lost Greg Whittington? I hope the same thing happens this year, but with more players and worse allegations.”

I must be the only one who has no idea what’s going on. Where are people getting additional info? If you go to Casualhoya, there is a police report.

Can't have it both ways.
1) LeBlanc was being disciplined for his legal issues, and decided to transfer along with Akinjo, leading to this all coming out. That's not necessarily on Ewing, though it raises serious questions about why he was playing at all, why Gardner and Alexander are not being disciplined, and why all 3 players were playing after the prelimanary injunction on 11/15, which should absolutely carry more weight than an internal school investigation.
OR
2) LeBlanc was being disciplined for an unrelated reason, and decided to transfer along with Akinjo, leading to this all coming out. That absolutely is on Ewing if he simply lost the confidence of his best players, to the point that they chose to transfer in the middle of the season. If that's truly the case, as the school is implying, he must be fired. That is unacceptable job performance.

There are many other possible scenarios. The guessing and demands are not justified.

In addition to being an incompetent coach, Ewing looks as if he's an incompetent manager. This is not a good combo.
