Wow is this a bad take. You seem to be insinuating Pat knew about this and was punishing the players by giving them less playing time. For all of our sakes we better hope that is not the case. It's better for Pat to be an incompetent coach. If these allegations are true there is no such thing as a half punishment which is what you are suggesting. This is close to how I feel. If you’re playing kids because they are innocent until proven guilty, so be it. If you’re tossing kids off the team for these allegations, that’s another way to go. Splitting the baby by limiting roles/minutes because of the situation is much harder to justify. Either way, I think we can all agree more information would be appreciated. Even something as simple as “we can’t comment because of ongoing legal proceedings, but 1.) J is dealing with personal issues and has decided to step away from the team/university.” 2.) J has not behaved in a way that comports with what we expect from student athletes has been removed from the team.” Likely playing two players by giving benefit of the doubt. One player benched perhaps by not being truthful about it or not coming forward. If a restraining order is broken that becomes a crime and violation of team rule and most university scholarship contracts players sign. Not sure, what is up with Akinjo, but in some states acting on behalf of a person with a restraining order is the same as the person breaking the restraining order and the person acting on their behalf has committed a crime. |

I noticed that Akinjo and LeBlanc were `holding their jerseys over their mouths and whispering and smiling while on the bench during the game Saturday
after they had been taken out...frankly, it gave me a very uneasy feeling at the time...now I know why...that was the worst game I'd ever seen from Akinjo...something like 3 of 12 from the field, 1 assist several turnovers and numerous poor decisions running the break...although I really liked the kid, I wonder about his ability to efficiently run a team vs his tendency to want to do it all himself...was his development/growth limited by his refusal to expand his game to more involve others? I am extremely disappointed to read these allegations against the players...but I've learned to wait for all the facts to come out before passing judgment...remember the Duke lacrosse situation...I do know this: PE is a very fine man, a man of great character and integrity, so I would imagine that he is heartbroken by the alleged actions of some of these players whom he trusted.
He may still have some growth to experience as a young college coach, but not so as a human being imo...

As someone else pointed out, there’s a reason companies, schools, etc don’t comment. Because if you’re wrong on what is just an accusation at this point, let’s say an accuser recants, then you’ve opened yourself to a HUGE lawsuit. You might not like it, but that’s the world we live in. Period, end of the story as to what the administration should say. We probably won’t have all the facts, ever. But here’s what the administration should be doing: the complaint alleges that Leblanc sent threatening texts. The admin needs to: 1) see if they can find out what was in those texts, and 2) determine whether coaches or AD knew if or even knew what was in the texts. Because if the AD or coach knew about the texts and either didn’t try to find out, or knew what was in them an they’re bad, then it’s game over. He should be gone. But again, we don’t know, and maybe the complaint isn’t accurate. The admin needs to find out—and find out who knew what. And hold people responsible, if necessary. |

They found the TRO and put it out there as the reason thus the school was not prepared for that info to come out. Until he gets named in any docs, I’m going to presume he’s leaving in solidarity with Josh. Or he’s seen enough of the program that sitting for 2 semesters is a better option. They aren’t mutually exclusive but we may never know. |

This is bigger then basketball. Let it play out before all the Ewing bashers call for him to get fired. From all we know Coach is a High integrity guy, let all the facts come out. THIS...Ewing vultures appear to have been waiting to pounce. Me thinks this is only going to drive him to make things right. I suspect he'll be even more motivated. It may bring out the best in him. |

Go read the Washington Times piece on the front page here (this may be the only time I've encouraged someone to read the Washington Times). Why Leblanc was treated differently is clear. If a restraining order was broken that would turn from a restraining order to a crime and time to cut a player loose. Akinjo is still a mystery. And the Akinjo piece is my bigger concern. If he is leaving simply because LeBlanc is being dismissed that is alarming. He’d rather sit out than play on a team he has been given the keys to since day 1 as a freshman? Is the program that toxic that he couldn’t stand to play without his friend LeBlanc whose alleged actions may have made it impossible for him to stay on the team? |
