This is good news! Love that we are going to get these high profile OCC games in.

I wanted to attend the Wooden Legacy since I live in Los Angeles. Well at least I can watch on tv now. Go Hoyas!

Disappointing. Remember, we also backed out of the Phil Knight tournament. Top kids want to participate in big games.

Scheduling decisions for this year should be based on the health & safety of the players and, when traveling, the effects required quarantines would have on their academic responsibilities among other things.

Might make sense if there is another tourney locally we plan on entering into with similar levels of competition. Reportedly something is in the works for DC but unclear if we are involved in that.

This blows.
Not making a comment about right or wrong (tho it's more understandable than the PK exit), but it would've been a very solid set of games.
Hope there's a decent replacement(s).

I wonder if DC's 14 day quarantine state travel list had an influence on the decision (or was used as an excuse). coronavirus.dc.gov/phasetwo

Why? Dumb move if true. I think all the college players want to participate in the Disney Bubble having watched the NBA do it. And college players would appreciate the amenities and special treatment at Coronado Springs (except for UK), etc much more than NBA millionaires.

Travel from Florida back into DC is subject to a 14 day quarantine. This may also capsize a home game with West Virginia since WVU isn't going to take a 14 day break to play.

How many infections, hospitalizations and possible deaths are ok to allow a few college athletes to play some games? Pretty easy to see the answer is zero. From a team whose coach has direct experience with some of the scarier aspects of this virus, I'm on board with any caution that Georgetown takes when preparing for the season.

Obviously the WVa issue could resolve before the scheduled date, but if not, game won't happen.

While I've been critical of the scheduling under Ewing, I think it'ts perfectly reasonable to give the benefit of the doubt here.
I'm not sure the 14 day quarantine is the reason, professional sports teams are getting waivers and I'd imagine the testing in the bubble would be sufficient. Maybe that would be problematic bc it would be lumping them in w professional sports but that's neither here nor there.
If it is regarding travel concerns more broadly, we'll have to see how the conference season plays out. At some point the team will travel to a state that is having a spike in cases, and difficult decisions will have to be made.
Additionally, I know Gtown has gotten a late start practicing relative to other teams. If that's the reason, well yea that stinks.
I'm still not 100% sure whether Ewing believes in difficult scheduling or rather tries to tailor his schedule to what he thinks the skill level of the team is. I'm not sure we're going to get the answer this year. While I'm skeptical this is an NCAA tourney team, they deserve to play a schedule that gives them a chance, with their health being the number 1 priority obviously.

To help understanding which states are currently on the 14 day quarantine list, this is the DC Government site: coronavirus.dc.gov/phasetwo
