I'm totally fine with playing UMBC. I know they're "cupcake," but I'm hoping we realize we shouldn't take anyone lightly.

Having a few teams like UMBC is fine. It can start of the season, and help test out new lineups while providing competition against a well-coached team who will scout us out well. They were derailed by injuries last season, so I imagine they play better this season. Also, they could serve as a midweek "break" to keep the guys loose and test out possible sets for our next game or something like that. A few games like this is fine. But too many, would be bad.
Look, I know it's a possibility but if there's no CBB or NFL season I'll probably have gone insane by that point and it means some really bad things are happening, so I'm not going to think about that. But, I think a big question to ask is about the Wooden Legacy tournament in Anaheim. I'd be pretty shocked if in late November teams are ok with traveling cross country to play some games. Certain college teams for football are not allowing plane fights and it's not crazy to say that teams won't want to fly across the country or go to Maui or Atlantis this year. Only time will tell on that front, really.

Power 5 college football will force a lot of issues, and will provide a "danger gauge" for attended games before basketball decisions have to be made.

We might just need to get ready for a round robin with AU, Mason, Howard, UMD, UMBC, TOWSON, Morgan ST., Mt. St. Mary, MD Eastern Shore, and GW. I think we could easily be top 2 in this regional league for '20/'21.

Yes some of those teams have great years but year over year no way we're not top 2 and to my knowledge, none of those are supposed to be star mid-majors in 20/21.

I'd guess that if we are still at a point that conference teams can't travel to each others sites, there probably won't be a season at all.

I think we could easily be top 2 in this regional league for '20/'21. I think if we wanted to separate this into more of an A and B leagues, we'd probably include the Virginia (assuming this is more so for non conference opponents, because assembling new conferences and sites for conference tournaments would be a disaster) teams so it would be some of UVA, Richmond, VT, UMD, and VCU along with the teams you listed. Some of these teams on here are going to be really good, too. The non-conference can be really good too, even if we have to go more local.

No one is going to have 20,000 fans in the seats. Probable that no one is going to have fans in the seats. Think people are really overrating the chances that we are playing any games. Fan bases in red states may surprise you. a) Omaha is deeply purple, not red b) Red states won't determine whether or not the Big East plays basketball this year c) the President only managed to draw 6,000 people for a political rally that he expected to draw 100,000 at in Oklahoma. I think those numbers suggest that red states may surprise the other way around and will be reticent to risk health for any indoor event - and even the section of the population most dismissive of COVID-19 might not show up to large indoor events. d) the Hoyas are a last place team and would not draw 20,000 anywhere even if there was no pandemic

In the positive column for the 2020-2021 schedule, DC has been in the lead for R_t for a few days now, passing MA on Friday : rt.live/

bustingbrackets.com/2020/06/23/big-east-basketball-top-5-storylines-heading-into-2020-21-season/First article that I've seen giving us a decent season outlook. Obviously I've got blue and grey tinted glasses, but I'm not sure we're too devoid of talent compared to the rest of the BE (outside of Creighton/Villanova). Assuming Harris/Bile are a little better than advertised and we get some jumps from Pickett/Blair/Wahab. Our average starting age will be over 22 next year. If we can play D then we've got a chance to surprise.

Oy vey! “Jahvon Blair (10.8 Pts, 3.1 Reb, 2.0 Ast) and Jamarco Pickett (10.2 Pts, 6.3 Reb, 1.1 Ast) return, and the senior combo have the potential to be one of the top backcourts in the Big East.”

And to think I haven't even seen him play... But, I mean I'm not going to complain at being put at #7. It's higher than I would place us, so it's nice to see that someone sees something, no matter how he spells our players names. Also, he got Sandro Mamukelashvili right, but Jamorko wrong, which I think is a pretty crazy accomplishment.

He has “Jamarco” and Blair as one of the best backcourts in the BE. Oy vey! Fact checkers (or even copy editors) aren't a big deal at Fansided, Bleacher Report,e tc. Their goal is to get ad clicks. A five part click-through is the goal here, not the content. That said, Drew Schmelzer, who is listed as a Big East correspondent, clearly was skimming when he cobbled this article together. Clearly, Jamorko Pickett is not a guard, but he missed on Chudier Bile as being a "fantastic shooter" (he shot 37 percent from three point range) and that noted "the strides [Qudus] Wahab has made in two years" at Georgetown. He also claims the transfers were those "who did not fit the culture [Ewing] is trying to instill". He seems to cover more Indiana sports in his articles, which suggests his exposure to Georgetown may be when the Hoyas come to play at Butler, which is usually some of GU's best play of late. In Ewing's three years, Georgetown is a combined 11-7 (.611) in regular season games versus DePaul, Butler and St. John's, but a troubling 8-28 (.285) versus everyone else.
