Looks like Virginia also backed out of the Wooden Classic. Update--AdminYes they have. According to this piece from Goodman (also linked below), they are playing in a event with Florida and Maine and a team that's TBD in Connecticut. It's definitely not uncommon for teams to drop out of events this year, but it seems most are trying to get into other events. Not sure what the Hoyas plan, but dropping out of an event in Florida is not a problem this year. They can still assemble a very solid schedule, so let's hope they do. watchstadium.com/college-basketballs-2020-21-events-schedule-10-07-2020/

GU Zoom video conference with Val Ackerman and Lee Reed. - Excited to have UConn back. Increases hoops profile. - JT2 BE award will be presented annually. - BE will wear patches on uniforms this year. BLM? - Play home games in McDonough. Will lose revenue - Lost revenue due to no BE tourney last year. Luckily, BE had pandemic insurance.

- Travel from Midwest to East Coast creates problems with restrictions and quarantine. May ask for exemption. - Other BE schools are back on campus. GU an outlier. Conservative approach. - GU basketball a priority. Will set a roadmap for other sports.

- Men’s & Women’s basketball tested three times per week. Results in 6 hours. Test athletes when they step on campus. Players from hotspots needed to quarantine for 14 days.

- Scholarship limits will not impact players who return. Payment is up to each school. - GU needs financial support to fund all sports. - 49 athletic department staff have been redeployed to other campus roles.

So 20 BE games, the 2 mentioned above, and then 3 probably against local teams. Personally don't mind it too much/not too surprised based on the way the school has handled things so far as it relates to COVID. Hard to criticize the schedule in a season like this upcoming one

Was hoping the Hoyas would be a part of the Mohegan bubble. Not certain 3 "local" non-conference games is enough when trying to bring in so many new players. Any way you cut it Ewing is going to need to play a lot of kids with no experience in the Big East or at the collegiate level. Also factor in a kid like Wilson is a redshirt and Wahab had very limited PT. I know there is little time between November 25th and the December 11th start for the BE, but a bubble with a tournament type schedule could get you 3 games in 3 days to go with WV and the local teams.

Is it too late for Georgetown, Howard, American, GW ... maybe UMD to organize some sort of round robin MTE -- a Battle for the DMV? Seems like all the teams could get 4 games or so and not travel, agree and/or share resources on testing, and generate some TV revenue. Allows Hoyas and other locals to not worry about the travel quarantine restrictions.

I mean technically we could (pretty sure Howard is in another MTE now, but I get the idea), but Rothstein reported that we weren't trying to participate in an MTE and I don't see that changing.
