Wake beating Xavier by 10. Rutgers crushing Seton Hall. Big East might be down to two ranked teams and neither in the Top 15.
While the perceived bottom of the league (Butler, DePaul, SJU) has been unquestionably stronger, the top (Nova, SHU, Marquette, PC) have been worse than advertised thus far.
All in all it makes for an ultra competitive league. 9-9 will be a good record and could even get us 3rd again. 9-9 with our resume this year definitely gets us a bid too...

We have a legit BE Player of the Year candidate if Mac keeps playing like he has the last 3 games. I don't know why we couldn't finish in the Top3....

Purely from a resume standpoint, we have in my opinion the best non-conference resume of anyone in the BE.
- Best or 2nd best SOS (depends on the site) - 2-1 vs ranked opponents (the entire rest of the BE only has 2 with Creighton over Texas Tech and Marquette over Purdue) - 2-0 record on the road (only DePaul at 3-0 has a better record) - Currently 14th nationally in Adjusted Offense on KenPom (only BE team higher is Villanova who are 2nd) - UNCG or PSU losses are relatively no worse than “bad losses” by others (Nova crushed by 25 by OSU, Marquette lost by 16 to a 5-5 Wisconsin team, SH crushed by 20 by Rutgers, Xavier losing to a 5-5 Wake Forest team, Creighton crushed by SDSU by 31, PC with multiple bad losses to Penn, LBSU, Charleston, Northwestern)
Bottom line is if this conference is as tight as I think it may be, our OOC should give us a leg up on any team we might by competing with for a seed and/or spot in the tournament come March.
Now let’s just get the conference wins to make this good work count down the road!

Now let’s just get the conference wins to make this good work count down the road! I'd say Butler's resume is the best. Only loss is top 25 on the road, and won games @ole Miss (Tourney team), vs Florida (Top 5 preseason), Neutral to Stanford and Missouri and has Purdue a week from today. Butler is #16 in adjusted defense (Hoyas at 97, I see why you left that out) and #20 in adj. offense. Now, I'm one of those people who doesn't think kenpom means much until like January where it's all this season stats, but even so Butler is much better there. 13 overall to our 44. DePaul is up there too with wins over Texas Tech, @iowa, @bc and @minnesota. Road wins against high majors are tough to come by. And they have three and a tough schedule. Sure, they lost to Buffalo, but those wins are very impressive. Depaul is 44 in adjusted D on Kenpom, and 91 offensively. But yes, our OOC should help. A few wins and March is ours. No slip ups from now until Providence.

If the Hoyas could have anywhere near that crowd at homes games s it did for Syracuse this team would have at least one less win, and that may have even prevented the whole Akinjo situation (although perhaps some would now see that as a bad thing).

Powell should have gone pro. He had nothing to prove in college. He’s a stud.

Powell should have gone pro. He had nothing to prove in college. He’s a stud. Why. It was a personal choice and he knew all his options.

Could end up costing him money. I think if he had a realistic chance of making the money he wanted he would have left after last season. He came back because that wasn't the case imo.

Butler listed as the number one surprise team, DePaul is listed at number three on the surprise side...
On the flip side, both Providence(#2) & Seton Hall(#10) made the disappointing top 10...

Hope he's ok long-term. That quote about him thinking they were practicing at Rutgers was scary. Could be back by the 3rd, but also wouldn't be surprised if it took him a little bit longer

Obviously another tough blow for Seton Hall... I have no doubt he will be back for January 3. We find a way to avoid other team's best players and this would be huge. Basketball concussions don't seemed to get rushed back the way football ones do. The bad news is he is surely missing the MD game.

My post was sarcastic since Hoyas' games tend to be a healing power over opponents (or fixing eligibility problems, in the case of Syracuse). In all seriousness, I hope Powell has a speedy recovery, regardless of whether he plays against us or not on January 3 (I plan to be there!).
