Despite the loss, Butler beats the Kenpom spread. Roll Big East.

Butler not looking so hot against Baylor rn Baldwin killed Butler at the end of this game... I thought that was poor play calling by Coach Jordan. He's been outstanding all year but tonight he lacked imagination the last minute of the game. Basically just gave Baldwin the ball and said go make a play. I get it Baldwin has been tremendous all season but you can't keep going to the same slot machine and expect it to keep paying off. Butler could have ran a pick & pop with McDermott or slip the pick & pop into flare screen with Nze diving to the hoop after setting flare screen. Some play with multiple actions & counters. The last couple of plays were to easy to guard. Just wasn't imaginative...

The Big East Tournament will be packed. If they are good the fans show up. Back when they were punching bags you could count their fans at the tourney on one hand, it seemed. We shall see!

You are going back to a time before they won NCAA championships.

Yeah that was a poor play by a player of Baldwin's experience/caliber. The entire last minute was filled with poor decisions by Baldwin. The coaching staff didn't help on their last possession following their timeout...

Hard to imagine Butler gets that call on the road. Baldwin also missed Nze cutting to the hoop for a layup...

There's been plenty of angst on this board about the BE's performance to date overall, and some of it deserved.
But a bit of perspective:
At this stage, the only two conferences to have all of their members among KenPom's top 100 teams are the BE and the B12.
And the only conference to have more teams among KenPom's top 30 teams than does the BE (which has 5) is the B10 (with 8). The ACC also has 5. Of course both those leagues have significantly more members.
Both the B10 and the ACC are better at the very top (in terms of teams in the top 10).
Bottom line: We're right there among the elite.

Yes, and the bottom of the ACC isn't that good: Boston College (126), Georgia Tech (94), Wake Forest (93), Clemson (90), Miami (82). The Big 10 is a bit stronger but they still have Nebraksa (157) and Northwestern (99) that aren't very good. I am skeptical whether Providence can hang on in the top 100 if they keep getting destroyed, but I guess we will see.
