Actually, I didn't. The period 1972-84 had very few transfers, just three: Cheese Holloway, Gary Wilson, and Ray Knight. Don't know Holloway's story but Wilson and Knight were suddenly behind two centers each and weren't going to get playing time. Knight ended up starting at Providence and was a 5th round NBA draft pick. They weren't kicked out to maintain a graduation rate. The one I have no information on is Mike Stokes, one of the six original Thompson recruits. He gets only a passing reference in John Thompson's autobiography as the third leading scorer in 1972-73 but I can't find any whereabouts after he quit school in 1973. Unfortunately, I don't know any of those guys you named and I've never heard of them. Mike Stokes worked in the DC restaurant industry for many years. His father was a GU math professor.

Chet, there is a Coach Ewing on line 1 for you.
(Younger fans might not even understand the analogy.)
Someone will have to translate this into Snapchat for me.

I think this young man is going to Gonzaga. I guess if the kid who announced he is transferring from North Carolina (Kessler) decides to go to Gonzaga, that might change things, but otherwise I think it is a long shot that Holmgren picks the Hoyas.

Of course it’s a long shot. He’s been leaning to the Zags for quite some time, and they are about to coast to a natty. However, one of the assumed allures of going to Spokane was to play with Suggs - his AAU teammate. And Suggs is going to be one of the top 3 picks in the draft, so they won’t be playing together. In much the same fashion Chet’s younger teammate is higher on Hoyas than anyone else. But Chet is def a one-and-done himself if he so chooses. He’s an incredibly unusual mix of skills and size - think Porzingis with defensive chops. Landing the nation’s No. 1 recruit is always a long shot for anyone outside of the bluest bloods.

What is Chet's younger teammate's name who is high on Hoyas? Are you saying he's high on the Hoyas or the Hoyas have him high on their list? Also, what is his name? I need to check him out.

Yes, think he is very underrated - superb slasher and defender with amazing athleticism and nice skills. He’s a consistent jumper from NBA lottery. Would love to see him on Hilltop...with or without Chet. GU was clear leader before UCLA’s run to FF.

Gonzaga getting smashed by Baylor on Gonzaga's coronation night can only help. I think if they had won he would've gone there for sure but now everyone else's chance improves I think.

Doubt it - Gonzaga is already showing up as Preseason #1 for next season. I'll be shocked if Holmgren goes anywhere besides Gonzaga.

I hope that he'd choose Georgetown but this logic makes no sense. Gonzaga comes up just short of a perfect season, so I'm going to go to Georgetown (or insert whatever other team you like), a team that got smashed in the first round by Colorado? Seems like we are twisting ourselves in knots to provide whatever narrative we need. If the kid was seriously leaning towards Gonzaga before, I don't see how this changes anything, unless he's also considering Baylor.

Could UCLA had give Baylor a better game? It just seem like Baylor was too much kryptonite for Gonzaga to handle.
