deleted. 2021 will more than likely get mutombo. You have not seen him play or practice. Ewing has. At least have some patience. He signed on to redshirt which means he believes an extra year would make him a much better player under Ewing. Stop it with this nonsense. Redshirting is good and makes players better. If you don't think it does, you haven't been following the sport closely enough.

Okay, but that’s in the past. You would’ve said similar things about Macklin, Benimon and Sims, and though they are only a couple examples, you would’ve been dead wrong. Great, you were able to assess how his development was in the preseason of year one. Good thing players can and 100% do improve after that point.

Whoever it is, one of Wilson and Igohoefe will likely have to move on if we sign a top center in 2021. I like both of their potential, but the reality is no team should have four pure centers at a time, especially with how basketball is run today. The only route for us bringing in a top guy in 2021 and keeping them on board would be if Wahab were to make the NBA jump after this season, and while I think he has the highest pro prospects of anyone on this current roster besides Pickett I see him as at least a three year guy. Honestly if either guy ever sees themselves as starters as a high major program it will be a real uphill battle, since Ewing will likely always be able to sell the program to highly rated centers year after year, especially if Wahab thrives.

I agree. Just to point out though, I think Malcolm is more of a 4 (he’s just skinny and has limited range) and if we signed someone like Cisse I think he could start alongside Wahab and maybe even Reid too. But those are problems for a later date.

I dont think they view Malcolm as strictly a 5. He is gonna play some 4. He has the speed to do it and his shot isnt that broken that he cant get range on it.

I don't think Mutombo or Cisse are pure centers, like these guys are. I don't really understand why Ewing brought them in together, but I don't think he should abandon the plan he had for the three centers.

We have way too many members on this board that say the same things, and to be honest, some of them are not HoyaTalk level posters. I say we cut some of them loose and recruit some 5 star members.

MODERATOR NOTE:
Board rules prohibit speculation about player status including suggested "roster moves." Such posts will be edited or deleted outright (and have been).
If you want to discuss the number of centers in general and relative strengths and weaknesses, fine, but do it in another thread.
If you want to discuss Moussa Cisse, this is the place to do it.

Well, you would hope that would help. I finally accepted today that this board is not what I thought it was. Or maybe things have just gotten that bad.

Just a little tongue in cheek effort.
Like pretty much all sports team fan sites, there is the entire spectrum of opinions, personalities and styles. And when we win another national title someday, we will ALL celebrate.

I have not seen enough of Mutombo to comment on him, but I have watched a decent amount of Cisse and Wilson (at least his high school games). Both guys can definitely guard the four, but I don't think it would make any sense to pair them up on the court with Wahab or someone else. Neither has an outside shot (unless Wilson somehow gained one last year?) and it would totally slow down what we want to do on offense. I think Coach Ewing demonstrated he has no interest in playing two bigs at once considering we were down to like six scholarship players at one point and we never once played two of Wahab, Yurtseven and Igohoefe.
