A Wise Man Once Told Me Don't Argue With Fools....

Yeah Texas Tech is now 2 over the limit and in heavy pursuit of Jonathan Kuminga. I have always hated this part of college basketball recruiting where schools go way over the limit of allowable scholarships and then push some kid(s) out of the program in June or July with little to know heads up or options... The head coach has his exit meetings with individual members of the team in mid April. The young man can be told we are excited about your progress and looking forward to next season. That young man goes home thinking/planning for next season only to have there scholarship pulled late in the process so that the program can bring in a bigger fish. I've seen where a player is on campus going to summer school and working out with the team and gets called in the office to let him know he's had his scolly pulled. The ugly side of college recruiting. Very Very slimy head coaches out there... While I 100% agree that this behavior is slimy, as a player do you not know that something like this is more likely to happen to you if you go to school X vs. school Y? Coaches must have built a track record on this and their reputation must, at this point, be making the rounds no? Also, you want to play at Big Time U but you know you are probably on the back end of the talent level, you know that your schollie may get pulled by that ty coach you chose, no? Had you gone to a mid-major you would be the star, no schollie pull but you don't get to play with the best... I guess all I am saying is that this type of behavior is not a secret, and it's more likely to happen to kids who are marginal talents on their team... Maybe, sometime, the kids know and they still want to see what and SEC school or an ACC one looks like from the inside? Would I like to see the NCAA put a time limit on this? sure, and if there is one, it seems it's not early enough... but I am also not totally convinced that these kids are always clueless about what they are getting themselves into and that, while young, they are old enough to make decisions - even bad ones sometimes, like the rest of us really Yeah...Unfortunately a good used car sales man can trick even the well informed. You think Car salesman Cal sells all these "5🌟" Kids on the NBA or hey in a year you can transfer when I get the brand new "5🌟" models on the showroom floor?

8 LSU crystal ball predictions in 48 hrs - 3 from LSU insiders.
If that silly thing is ever useful at all, I'm gonna have to assume this one is all but sewn up.

Cisse and LeBlanc are going to be defensive dynamos if they end up together - that could be one fun team to watch on that end of the court.

I think Wade is a dirt ball and I hope he ends up getting suspended at some point for the stuff he has done recruiting, but I have to give him some credit. He still gets kids to commit to LSU for him even with the NCAA breathing down his neck. Maybe he has found a way to continue to hand out big checks to these young kids (and their handlers) but whatever he is doing it amazes me that it is still working for him.

Check out how he talks about LeBlanc in this clip, it's not hard to see why players are drawn to him...

Intermediaries are often used and harder to track. Also, non-cash benefits like jobs and discounted items.

Or you could only discuss paying the kid on a taped phone conversation, knowing you'd get away with it.

I placed my FutureCast for LSU for Moussa Cisse back in October and I am not going to change that now. The five-star will be committing later this week and all signs remain pointed towards the Tigers, that is the ones that can be found in Baton Rouge. That is not to say that any of his remaining finalists could not make a late run at things. Sure, his close proximity to the Memphis program does not hurt their cause, neither does the fact that the he has visited the campus a handful of times compared to never once setting foot onto the SEC program’s campus. However, he and his family have a few prior connections to the staff at LSU and the relationship that they have developed with them should be strong enough that will lead to his verbal commitment to LSU before the week wraps up. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-travel-ball-moussa-cisse-memphis-transfers

Of all the guys we lost to transfer, Leblanc in my mind is the one that hurts the most.

True. Best I can tell Josh lost focus on basketball last summer. He got a girlfriend pregnant. Whatever happened with the X-box happened.
He fell deep enough into Ewing’s dog house to lose his starting job to Jamarko which stunned many. Ewing was clearly Editeded with him when the season started.
Josh is a great player who will be missed, but it looks to me he had some unseen weakness between the ears.

That's why Myron is the loss that hurts the most to me. He reminded me of Jiggy. Having the ability to play with toughness and smarts.

No question at all, and not even close. I know it’s probably an unpopular opinion based on his attitude, family influence, etc but I still contend that Akinjo was the biggest loss. People forget he was the BE Freshman of the year. How great was his exchange with McKnight, his heroics at Marquette, clutch FT shooting, his stellar play against Texas at MSG... We’ll probably never know the dynamics with he and Mac, and how much that soured his attitude. However, to me he was the most consistent talent on the court of the three guys from this class in the 1-2 years each played.

LeBlanc hurt because I always felt he was an underrated kid out of HS and then he committed over some schools that cheat to win at recruiting. He then got injured and we stuck with him through his recovery. He came in and played well right away (and probably should have played more minutes). I don't know him off the court but on the court he was the type of competitor you need to win. He was the prototype 4 man (in my eyes) that could also play small ball center.
Akinjo is a guy that is very talent, obviously. But him and Mac were irritating to watch because neither bought into the team game and both were out to prop themselves up (in my opinion just by watching them play). Neither were good enough to run the other out of town and they would have been much better as a collective group that fed off each other.

A sense earned a starting job. At first it seemed absurd that he was starting but looking back Ewing was being fair with all the players and rewarded Jagan for all his hard work. If you think about it, Jamorko was already starting the season before so really Jagan took LeBlancs spot on merit. And as you say unfortunately Josh lost focus and some issues going on as well. All very unfortunate but Ewing is creating a culture of character, merit and fairness.

It would have been nice to get Moussa Cisse. But I don't think that can happen now. I thought we might getter a taller player, but I am now believing that Coach is putting his trust in our trio of bigs (Wahab, Igoeffe, and Wilson), and the core of the young freshmen are multi-skilled players who will fill in the gaps. Perhaps Mutombo or the big 6-11 Chet Holmgren will join the team in 21-22. What Coach recruited was what we lost last year. I believe they will be very athletic! We just need to start winning. Next season is a big opportunity.
