Watching Allen play with his school is very different than watching him with Takeover, his travel team. The different is players around him. Maret has had a lot of solid players transferring out and really doesn't have much chemistry, which means its players that it leans are on are create for themself guards. Allen isn't an on ball player, but is a really good shooter with length. This thread on him keeps comparing to very different styles of players who are more on ball, not more pure shooters and transition players with good ball movement skills. ball Allen's biggest weakness for a wing is on the defensive side, which needs work.
But, with what Patrick keeps saying he is trying to build Allen could fit that mold of good outside shooter, transition player, and can get rebounds and kick it out. He lacks the defense right now (or what he was showing during the school year), but last summer watching him with TakeOver play against Durant and other top teams he wasn't getting cooked on defense, but he wasn't locking anybody down either. I only saw him play once with Maret this year and the team really was a mess and there was a lot of ball dominant play and defense wasn't communicating (from a whole team perspective) nor coordinating efforts, which lead to bad play across the board with players in bad position to defend.

Problem of Dog has a history of bashing DMV prospects, and bashing fellow posters who tend to think these prospects are worthy of Georgetown's attention. His commentary on Kris Jenkins, for instance: "Doesn't have a position. Too small to be a 4, too slow to guard 3s." "You must be a Gonzaga guy. Sorry but he's a no go. Undersized guys who shoot it well for their position are a dime a dozen. Not quick enough to play the 3 in the Big East." Has been doing this for years now, and is consistently wrong. Getting a kid like Quincy Allen who is an unfinished product (hence, we may not get in a recruiting war with UNC), is incredibly talented, and is local is exactly what we need to be doing. Hate to point this out about a particular poster who is a fellow fan, but seeing POD continually bashing local prospects like he is the exclusive DMV expert is incredibly frustrating. Kris Jenkins was a decent college player. Would he have made a huge difference at Georgetown? No. Was he a 4? No. Was he too slow to guard 3s? Yes. Was he undersized and did he shoot it well? Yes. He couldn't even get a whiff of the G-League. I see more DMV kids play, both in the area and at Nike/USA Basketball events, than you ever will. How many times have you seen Quincy Allen play? "Incredibly talented"? The kid hasn't even been the best player on his team since he's been in high school, and it's not a basketball powerhouse. Look at what I've said about Trevor Keels (who is actually talented), or even Benny Williams, in this exact thread. Kris Jenkins also lost like 40 lbs. Before Nova ever really let him get minutes. In high school he was like a good 260-270.

Anyway I brought that up because no one knew for sure he was gonna get down to where he did.

Villanova has a terrific strength and conditioning coach by the name of John Shackleton. Jenkins is not the only one of their players who improved greatly in that regard. In my opinion Shackleton is one of the keys to their success. A program has to have “buy in” and they have it across the board.

I understand there are mixed feelings about Allen based on his play at Maret but at the end of the day he is widely considered one of the best overall local talents. He has the potential to be a special player at the next level. I am very glad to see Coach Ewing is on him hard, we need a solid pickup locally like Allen in the worst way.

Highlights from Feb. 2019:
Scouting Report from Jan. 2020 (Jerry Meyer, 247):
Projection: First Round, Comparison: Cameron Johnson (UNC - Phoenix Suns)
Great length for a scoring wing. A smooth athlete with body control and a finesse game. Not a powerful, explosive athlete. Tremendous shooter, especially off the catch from deep. Can score off dribble in midrange. Adequate handler and does see the court as a passer. Holds his own on the boards. Defense needs improvement.

Quincy Allen is another prospect who has seen his scholarship count increase this spring. He doesn’t appear be nearing a commitment, but I could see a cut list coming soon - and with the Wolfpack on it. I would count NC State among the early leaders. Others that have continued to actively recruit the four-star wing include Colorado, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, Marquette, Miami, Michigan, Pitt, Seton Hall and Virginia Tech. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/wednesday-leftovers-villanova-max-christie-arizona-more

As far as I can tell, the only coach he follows on IG from any of those schools is Nate Tomlinson of Colorado.
He follows the Louisville, DePaul, Clemson, and Duke pages on there.
Twitter he follows a ton of Georgetown fan related accounts (Ron, Aidan, YaBoy, hoyabreakdown, etc) and a ton of Michigan accounts. Coaching staff really needs to up their social game. Having Crouch as the only staff member with an active account is suboptimal.

Wow. That'd be a nice surprise. We do seem to do well with unexpected/quiet commitments

Bump Georgetown: “Coach Ewing has probably been on me the longest and hardest. He gave me my first big offer so I really respect the loyalty. He is trying to rebuild the Georgetown program and get to where they were when he was playing there. I like the style of play and the coaching staff, they seem really cool.”

From back in September, but at the 16:15 mark Corey Evans mentions mutual interest between Georgetown and Allen.

Usually, I try to come on here and at least make my guess known... but here I have no idea.
Colorado was his first visit, but has Colorado had any success in the DMV ever? COlorado also needs wings, but I heard they got passed by Nc State (who's not on this list) so are they just a courtesy after landing an official visit? Michigan has two wings already, no visit but did just offer. Is he gonna be the third wing in the recruiting class? Was this always his plan to announce today? I've heard nothing about Miami and don't know how he fits what Larranaga likes to run, so again I'm confused about how they are here. They might need wings, but seem to have more needs at both guard positions. Maybe they recruited Allen as a two? Also, I know verbalcommits doesn't have Miami listed as offering him. I don't know how verbalcommits is with this information, but that says something to me. And finally the Hoyas. Typically good in speedy recruitments and clearly are an option, but I feel I would've heard more about the Hoyas in recent months. But, a recruitment where analysts have no idea typically favor Georgetown. But the speed makes sense for Michigan and maybe Colorado. Staying home with the pandemic is an option also. I have some optimism. I don't want to get too optimistic though and feel too let down if he doesn't come here (probably too late considering I've typed out this whole message) but until we land a DMV prospect, I shouldn't guess Georgetown.
Though, I do like making guesses so I'm going to. The Hoyas have been on him for a long time and a pandemic might lead him to stay home and in a non-pandemic situation, Colorado would be my guess. But all of these factors I've seen, dare I say, I'm going to guess Georgetown for the time being with very little confidence.
Hopefully, Quincy comes to DC and he would be VERY welcome here, and I'd be very happy if he does. I have no idea where he goes.
