Espn #94 Rivals #87 247 #37 Fwiw I think he's closer to the Rivals and Espn ranking than the 247 sports one. What I like is his development over the past few years. I think his name turned heads at first, but especially over the last year or so, his play has had lots of reporters/recruiting sites talking about him as his own player. an 80ish player that's moving up with a bullet would be a very nice haul, especially as it looks to me that he can play the 4 or the 5.

I'm going to go back to this quote, just because, from an earlier post. What I like most about it is that, yes, lots of young bigs have to develop physically, but we have, in the past, had some issues with mental toughness down low:
"2. Which unranked player has made the biggest impression during the high school season?
McDonald: This is really easy for me. Ryan Mutombo, son of Dikembe Mutombo, is my answer. As I mentioned in my column yesterday, it was as impressive of a performance as I’ve seen out of a post player in a while on Tuesday night. He scored 43 points against a good team that was keyed on trying to shut him down.
His improvement in the past six months has been pretty incredible. He can score around the rim and in the mid-range. He has great hands, rebounds well, and protects the rim. And just as important as those traits, he’s physically and mentally tough."

Collins just committed to Michigan tonight. Collins and Mutombo hit it off pretty good on their visit at Georgetown months ago. you never know Mutombo could be ready to pop any day now... Just a thought.

It really would not be a good look for someone who might be seen as an extended family member to appear to string GU along then go elsewhere. I can't help thinking Dikembe would have discouraged that. Of course Ryan can and should go where he wants and conduct his recruitment as he sees fit. Just sayin'.

Saxa, do you really think he has the footspeed and footwork to play the 4, particularly on the defensive side of the ball? He’d be a great get, but the little video I’ve seen didn’t make me think that was a real option. Bummed about the Frankie Collins commit.

Did he inform the school he chose? Would he have told the other schools he’s no longer open and he doesn’t need to be recruited?

From the admittedly small sample I've seen, he's got the game of, say, PFs in an earlier Era. Nice looking midrange, good court awareness on both ends, More than just a down low guy. About the footspeed, just not sure. If he did play some 4, we'd need the three smaller guys to be real good shooters, I'd think. I don't know, just something about his game from the film I've seen makes me belie e he could play both. Time will tell.

If it’s meant to be, this would be real nice timing for Ryan to pop for the Hoyas.

Had been curious why we were still going after a few pretty heralded C's in the 2022 class. Regardless, I'll believe all of this when I see it.
