Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has logged a Future Cast prediction in favor of Georgetown for highly touted center Ryan Mutombo, the son of former NBA great Dikembe Mutombo. Mutombo — a still-growing, 6-foot-11 prospect in the class of 2021 — is currently ranked No. 83 in that class by Rivals.com, but he’s been rocketing up the recruiting lists lately and is expected to continue his rise in the near future. 247Sports’ recently updated rankings pegged Mutombo as the No. 43 player in the class. The Herald-Leader spoke to Mutombo’s high school coach, Mike Harner, in Atlanta late last month, and he said that they were still hoping to hear from Kentucky, which, as of late April, had not yet reached out. ukrecruiting.bloginky.com/author/benroberts/

Let’s pray that his father was able to instill the importance of academics.

Scouting report from Evan Daniels at 247Sports.com: "Legit size with long arms and a sturdy frame. Has terrific hands & touch around the basket. Good feel as a passer out of the high post and on the block. Shot the ball from the mid-range area with confidence, and mechanics are fine. Impressive feel for the game and a high IQ. Good area rebounder and rim protector. Lacks lift, and just gets end-to-end OK. True low post player. Late bloomer with major upside. Son of Dikembe Mutombo." 247sports.com/Player/Ryan-Mutombo-46094162/No crystal ball predictions yet.

If I was a low post scoring big, playing at Georgetown would be my ideal, as our centers the last three years have been given every opportunity to demonstrate their offensive capabilities.

Can’t help feeling like this is one recruiting battle we have to win.

I think this would be a done deal but for the current state of the program. Hopefully, he sees himself as a savior.

I hope so too, but I don’t think most kids these days find being a savior appealing. Which is why adding talent elsewhere is extremely important- need to show Ryan it’s not just going to be him and that we’ll be bringing in guys that can compete the four years he is here.

I think you’re right In general, but he is a Mutombo.

If he is going to come, he should commit early and recruit others like Frankie to join him.

If he is going to come, he should commit early and recruit others like Frankie to join him. This is real. Be the one leading the charge and recruiting guys to join you. It can make a big difference if someone is pushing hard for others to join them in a good class and reassures kids that talent is going there. No one wants to be first to jump at an uncertain situation, but you can be the one to stabilize and galvanize it.

Come to our school and also you have to do the recruiting because we're inept at it is not a selling point.

But TC can't resist taking a shot at our coaching staff in every thread at every opportunity. Really tiresome for someone who looks at the recruiting board for actual information/news.

If he is going to come, he should commit early and recruit others like Frankie to join him. This probably would have happened if not for the pandemic. Ryan still wants to be wined and dined but he can't get on campuses. He probably could have gotten most visits done by the end of summer and decided right before his senior season started.

But with his logic that means Duke is inept at recruiting?

Call me jaded but I never believed the “brotherhood” non sense at Duke. Those players collect there because of the benefits they received $$$ for attending Duke as a 9 month student athlete. The recent Zion case makes that abundantly clear if it wasn’t already.
Self and Kansas knew of Zions’ family demands. Cash, house and job yet he miraculously commits to Duke because he dropped those demands? I am skeptical.
