What would be the subscription fee for a video feed of Ryan’s first days in practice? I would like to see how Tim and Malcolm welcome Ryan. I don’t doubt that Ryan “wants it” but I’m not sure that he understands that other people “need” it on a different level. Comments like this are a bit tone deaf if you ask me. I get it, he’s a high schooler, but I think Ryan lacks some self awareness.

Determination and the desire to outwork others is an asset not a liablity...especially if its respectful and carries a bit of humility with it...I'm glad that Ryan is fired up and willing to work to achieve his goals...

Ryan seems to be a great young man, mature and focused. Not at all worried about how he will fit with his teammates. Lol..if you don’t see the possibility of a red flag here, I don’t know what to tell you, except that you may find sand in your ears. I must be missing the genre of tweets of great players talking trash to their future teammates. Well hopefully his teammates aren't part of a generation of snowflakes that curl up in the fetal position if someone posts something on social media that they don't like. I can tell you that back when the Hoyas were a national power (too many years ago of course), players regularly called each other out, arguments verging on blows in practice were not uncommon. If you didn't work your arse off every single day your teammates would come down on you like a ton of bricks. Seems to me that Ewing is trying to focus on recruiting kids that are tough enough to withstand a tweet challenging them to work.

He said he is coming to go to work and he is going to out work those in his lane; that's not disrespect; that is coming with a workman's attitude; and anyone in his lane has that same opportunity to work even harder. In the pros when you line them up in the preseason everybody is after your spot. you out work them, out play them to keep it. Each player will tell you that and it is not disrespect it is about working. Couldn't agree more. That's the mentality of having an NBA dad. It's not about anything but getting better and beating the man across from you day after day. Whether that's your teammate in practice or an opponent in a game. We like to throw around the phrase iron sharpens iron in basketball circles - and this is the mentality that has to go along with the physical for that to occur. I've had a chance to meet Ryan a few times. The kid is very impressive. He's an accomplished musician (?) (it may be choir singer). He's very into local politics. Very cultured on a global perpective (as you'd expect from the son of Dikembe). My point being that he's the type to help shape a mentality into production. I've said before he reminds me a ton of Roy. A pro ceiling who's just starting to grow into and get used to his 7'1 frame. I'm not convinced he will be ready to be a big time contributor from day 1 - but I do think he's a kid that will make a major impact in the program on and off the court. Hm...now he's 7-1"?

You might like a video about this snowflake.
@yaboynyp. In the video you’ve watched of Ryan, what is the height of the tallest opponent you’ve seen?

Apologies if im mistaken. He was listed as 6-11 for his senior season. I had read he grew an inch or two in that time - but I can't find the source right now. Either way, 6-11, 7'0, 7'1. The same point still stands.

Mutombo has since deleted this tweet. what did the tweet say "I promise I want it more than whoever's ahead of me. That's no disrespect, but I'm coming at your neck everyday. Don't blink for a second because I'll smoke you. We work on this side." April 3rd, 2021 I'm not sure why he'd deleted though, but oh well. I guess it didn't go over too well with others reading it, and/or others might use it as bulletin board material if he's not showing it on the floor.

Maybe his father just reminded of him of the old adage... "Let your play speak for itself"

I loved his first answer. The question should have been, how many times can you write balling and studying in a single response?
